Business Details
We have been providing music instruction in Benicia since 2006, celebrating our 20th year of operation. Our studio began when a local music store closed unexpectedly, and we committed to building a new space where students could learn and belong. We offer private lessons and group workshops for guitar, piano, drums, bass, and voice, focusing on confidence, feel, and fun. Our teachers understand that music is a language the body understands before the mind can explain it. For young students, we create opportunities to slow down, focus, and make sense of patterns through sound. For parents, we provide a way to build attention, confidence, and emotional awareness without pressure.
Through careful listening and active music-making, our students learn to stay present and trust their instincts. We feature state-of-the-art Apple iMacs for ear training, recording, and scoring projects. Our professional staff includes Jeff Campitelli, who performed as drummer for virtuoso guitarist Joe Satriani for 20 years. We are open six days a week by appointment, from 10 AM to 9 PM. Thousands of students have come through our doors, many discovering their confidence and growing into skilled musicians. We invite you to join us on the musical journey, from first notes to stage ready.

Private Lessons
We offer private instruction for guitar, bass, piano, drums, and vocals focused on building confidence and feel. Students of all ages, from beginners to advanced players, benefit from personalized attention tailored to their goals. This approach helps students solidify their knowledge and develop a deep understanding of music.
Group Workshops
Our short, high-energy group workshops make rhythm, timing, and improvisation click for students. Participants then put their skills together as a band in a collaborative setting. These sessions are designed for students who want to enhance their ensemble playing abilities.
Practice Tools
We provide interactive web tools and customized downloadable audio and video resources for students. These materials help learners lock in tempo, read rhythms, and visualize harmony both at home and in the studio. Students access these tools to reinforce what they learn during their lessons.

J Shelby is a great music teacher. In only 4 months he has taught my 7 year old granddaughter to play well. He teaches all the basics from the foundation of knowledge, history, and an imagination that captures a child. And he knows how to teach with repetition, clarity, and attention. The best I've seen in my many decades as a musician.

Great school and very private. My son learned to play guitar from this school. The location is not the most convenient but worth the drive.

J Shelby and his CONSISTENCY towards my son is remarkable. I mean, overtime you go, you enter, warm smiles from him and his crew. Eagerness for the instructor to teach quality music everytime. One thing is for sure, you've got to remind your kid to practice 15-20 minutes everyday. Been going her for almost three months now and they boy has picked up a lot of knowledge and emergence of musical interest. I seem him glide over musical note sheets and try them both over Piano and Guitar.

This is the best place ever! My 6 year old started taking classes here about 6 months ago. We decided to give piano class another try after a difficult experiencing with another teacher at another location. My son loves piano now. Teacher J is patient, fun and always engages with my son to a point where my son is laughing and learning at the same time. My son never feels pressured or rushed, and I love watching my son gain confidence and pride as he is becoming a little musician.
