As the operators of LAAPA School of Music & Dance - Covington, we provide instruction from our historic downtown Covington location, serving over 200 students across the Northshore region, including Bush, Folsom, Franklinton, Hammond, Madisonville, Mandeville, and Slidell, Louisiana, as well as dedicated students commuting from Mississippi communities such as Carriere, Picayune, and Gulfport. Our newly developed, state-of-the-art campus on Highway 437 is fully operational and features multiple music studios, a dance studio with a floating Marley floor, and a 100-seat performance theater designed for student use and presentations.We have structured our educational offerings to ensure accessibility, flexibility, and depth. Students may participate either online or in person while gaining access to the largest variety of music programs available in the region. Our university-trained faculty deliver instruction with dedication and professionalism. Between all classes, we maintain thoroughly sanitized studios and equipment, supported by hospital-grade HVAC systems utilizing Global Plasma Solutions and Nu-Calgon technology, consistent with the standards of leading institutions such as Harvard University and government facilities. We welcome students of all ages, from beginners through advanced levels. Additional resources include makeup workshops for missed lessons, weekly 45-minute music theory classes at no additional cost, an annual complimentary recording session in our studio, an in-house educational printing press producing faculty-developed methods, and optional performance opportunities available to every student.

Services
Piano Lessons provide private, individualized instruction designed for beginners through advanced students. We teach a wide range of musical styles while emphasizing strong foundational technique and music understanding. Our lessons are structured to be both enjoyable and progressive, supporting each student's growth. Optional group enrichment and regular performance opportunities enhance the learning experience. 
Our guitar instruction program provides beginning, intermediate, and advanced training for students pursuing structured musical development. Our professional instructors create individualized curricula designed to ensure steady progress while accommodating each learners experience and style. Students may choose acoustic or electric guitar. Each lesson focuses on building strong foundational technique and musical confidence. 
Our voice lesson program has been established since the mid-1980s and continues to grow across multiple campuses with a large team of instructors. We provide private weekly singing instruction tailored to developing vocal technique, musicality, and performance skills. Students engage in age-appropriate repertoire and structured exercises that support healthy vocal growth over time consistently. 
We offer violin lessons for children, teens, and adults at the Louisiana Academy of Performing Arts. Instruction is personalized, with lesson plans adapted to each student's learning style and progress. Students are guided from fundamental techniques to advanced violin skills. Our curriculum builds proficiency while fostering appreciation for the instrument's artistry. 
We provide drum and percussion instruction for students ages five through adult, covering drums, cymbals, snare drum, and a wide range of auxiliary percussion instruments such as tambourine, shakers, triangle, bells, and woodblocks. Students benefit from continuous exploration of new instruments, ensuring engaging and varied learning experiences throughout their training at every level offered. 
Ballet instruction is provided at varied times each week for students starting at age four across Covington, Harahan, and Mandeville campuses. We view ballet as the root of all dance and recommend it as the first step for all students. Classes emphasize positions, techniques, and terminology in every session. Students demonstrate growth in Spring recital and Christmas Show with choreography. 
We offer Hip Hop instruction during various weekly time slots for children beginning at age five. The style is rooted in jazz and African dance, reflecting movements found in popular music videos. Our classes emphasize a supportive, family-friendly setting with suitable music selections. Students gain rhythm, style, and technical foundations supporting future dance pursuits and performance pathways.

I was incredibly nervous to take adult ballet lessons not having any prior dance background but Ms. Allison is the absolute best ballet instructor!! She is so friendly, fun, and encouraging. She really makes me feel like im doing a good job even though Im so new. The LAAPA environment is also always so lively, i love walking into the building being greeted by the friendly front desk staff and getting to talk to the other families before class starts. Everyone is always so happy here!

Bonnie Fagan is my daughter's instructor in piano and voice. She's a wonderful teacher with a great demeanor with my daughter and is very professional towards me. She has the skill as a musician and a teacher to thoroughly explain concepts my child needs to know, in a way she full understands, and does so in a fun, easy-going manner. She's flexible in curriculum allowing my daughter to study both essential lessons as well as 'fun' music, which helps keep her motivated. Brynn plays well above her age level, and I attribute that to Ms. Bonnie and her teaching.

My private lesson piano teacher Annabelle Bertucci is the best! She is so patient and explains things so well. She is always supportive and kind. Im an older student taking piano lessons for the second time and she is teaching me new things every week! I would highly recommend Annabelle and the entire school of music!

We have had a wonderful experience at LAAPA Covington. My youngest has learning piano with Carter for years now and has learned so much. He is also learning drums with Ryan Tingle for a year and has learned so much. I Love to hear them rock out during class. My Oldest has been taking bass and drums with Benjamin Hurst for years now and he has advanced so much- and is even playing in church now. Couldnt have asked for better teachers!

We love Covington School of Music! From the convenience of my children being able to take lessons in the same time frame to the instructors having music degrees, Covington School of Music is a high-caliber music school and a worthwhile investment in my childrens education. We especially love our instructors and I could not have chosen a better match for my children. Mr. Gary challenges my son in such an encouraging way and Ms. Autumn keeps my energetic daughter right on track. We are so thankful for them both!
