Chris is is a great instructor. I started learning acoustic guitar with him in November and have seen consistent progress since then. Chris works through a curriculum for beginning students that is both manageable and challenging, leading to new skill development, week over week. From the start, I was playing simple songs and singing along with them! Chris is also really organized, and patient and I would not hesitate in recommending him as an instructor.

Chris has been instrumental in my development as a guitar player! When I started lessons, I was self-taught and had been playing for a couple of years, but Chris took my skills to the next level. He taught me solo improvising, how to transcribe songs by ear, and introduced me to exercises that improved my speed and precision. His lessons are always practical and encouraging, and within just the first few sessions, I gained so much confidence in my technique and playing style. I highly recommend him to anyone looking to grow as a guitarist!

I've been taking lessons with Chris and I couldn't be happier. He knows his stuff when it comes to music and theory, and he explains concepts in a clear and easy-to-understand way. His teaching method is well-organized, following a structure, which helps a lot in learning and making progress. I highly recommended his class for anyone looking to improve their guitar skills!

Chris is a great guitar teacher! I was initially unsure about taking guitar lessons as an adult, but I've been taking weekly lessons with Chris for the past year and I still learn something new every session.
He keeps lessons fun by focusing on learning to play popular songs. While I'm learning the songs, Chris introduces the relevant guitar techniques and music theory concepts in a way that really helps me to get the most out of what I'm playing.
It's hard to believe how much progress I've made! In addition to all of the songs I've learned to play, I've been really impressed by the way that Chris builds upon music concepts over time. Even learning to improvise solos or transcribe music by ear feels accessible to me because he's been building up my music comprehension the whole time. It feels awesome when each new piece "just clicks"!

I've been learning acoustic guitar from Chris for 1.5 years now. While I have a musical background, that was over three decades ago. So my body doesn't have the same dexterity and flexibility now.

Chris is great in working with you and your abilities. Some of his curriculum is meant to challenge, but it's tailored to you. And he understands your interest level and what you hope to get out of the lessons.

Going for my weekly lesson is more like hanging with a friend and getting some education. He's patient and easy-going. He makes it fun, which is how it should be!

High attention to detail while still being patient with complete beginners. Willing to match your effort if you're serious about learning. Over the course of a couple months, I progressed from not knowing how to play a chord to being able to independently play and sing several songs.

I've worked with several different music teachers over the years, and Chris is by far my favorite! He is patient and thorough, as well as attentive to my learning goals and musical preferences. I've made much more substantial progress during my six months of lessons with Chris than I have in fifteen years of watching YouTube videos on my own, in part because he knows exactly how much to challenge me in order to motivate me to practice during the week.

Logistically speaking, I appreciate the flexibility of being able to meet in person or online, and it's easy to reschedule lessons if necessary. I highly recommend his studio!

Chris is a wonderful teacher. Since beginning lessons with him 6 months ago I have felt much more comfortable and confident on guitar. He fosters a friendly environment, and his curriculum breaks down the fundamental skills of playing guitar in an approachable and effective way.

I came in with a small amount of guitar experience, self-taught so I had acquired some bad habits. Chris arranged the curriculum in such a way that I could practice songs I liked while also learning new techniques. I had a lot of choice in which areas I'd like to work on (fingerpicking, folk or blues etc). It's been a couple of months and songs that seemed daunting earlier are much more accessible to me now. I'd say each class is worth every penny.

Chris is an absolutely phenomenal teacher! I started taking lessons in March, completely online, and as a complete beginner, and it still felt like we made so much progress each week. I'm really happy with how many different songs, chords, and strumming patterns we learned!

I am picking up my guitar after 30 years of just looking at it sit in the corner. Primeau Guitar is fantastic. Chris is an exceptional teacher and communicator. Started in his studio and have switched to video since the world has changed for now. It doesnt matter. The quality of instruction is superb. In just a short time I am picking and strumming songs I have always wanted to play. I recommend Primeau Guitar to anyone that wants to start playing or just get better.

I started working with Chris a couple months ago and have been so impressed by the lessons as an adult beginner. Although it has all been remote (due to COVID-19), that hasn't stopped him from being able to watch and comment on my form/technique and guide me through my mistakes. He's done a great job of teaching the basics, helping me understand guitar terminology, and learning chords and strum patterns. In fact, I am already able to roughly play several songs (they are only rough because I need to more practice!).

"It'd be so fun to learn guitar someday."

"Someday." I'd told myself that for several years. I even got an inexpensive acoustic guitar one Christmas, and on more than one occasion I picked it up and looked for YouTube videos. Surely I could teach myself, right? I fantasized about how fun it would be to be able to strum through my favorite 80's power ballads around a campfire with friends. But inevitably, my efforts at self-teaching ended in frustration.

I finally concluded that unless I got serious and took lessons, "someday" learning guitar would end up becoming "never." I searched Yelp for guitar teachers and came across Chris Primeau.

I've been taking lessons with Chris for roughly one hour a week over the past year, and I'm staggered at my own progress. I can play dozens of songs with confidence. A year ago I couldn't play jack.

It's one thing to be tremendously talented at something (which Chris is), but it's another skill set to be able to transfer that information clearly to a student. Chris strikes a really great balance--tons of patience as you work through tasks, but also continually pushing you to grow. I look forward to every lesson.

If you're on the fence, just pull the trigger and book a lesson. Don't be surprised if his schedule fills up, but trust me when I say it's 100% worth the effort to get started with him. You'll be glad you did.

I can give an unqualified exceptional review for Chris as a guitar teacher. We started 2 years ago with Chris for lessons for my 13 year old son. But as my son had been playing for 6 years already, he could read guitar tabs and learn intermediate difficulty songs on his own. So Chris asked if he wanted to learn music theory and over a year, my son went from learning a simple scale to a point where he can now improvise in any song, in any key and most modes. We would never have gotten this exceptional teaching from a music store and Chriss degree from Berkeley College of Music shows.

We started with 30 minute lessons but because my son was improving quickly, we moved up to an hour. It was money well spent. Chris keeps it fun, infusing lessons with interesting songs and solos. Last week my son played Pink Floyds Comfortably Numb and its intricate guitar solos at Chriss recital/concert. Chris really stepped up his game here and for a small fee, hired a professional sound engineer and videographer. He played the backing music without the guitar track, so it sounded exactly like my son was playing in the band. It sounded awesome, on par with what you would hear at a local club! I was amazed and the video turned out great!!!

I have personally played guitar on and off for 32 years. Each lesson I sit in the room and am always impressed with Chriss patience and professionalism in his teaching. And I learn some new things myself along the way.

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced musician, Chris will make you a much better player!!!

I found Chris from his great reviews on Google and Yelp, and have since been taking lessons from him for 6 months. He has been a fantastic teacher and great guy to get to know. I started with Chris with no prior musical background, and his approach is to teach beginners to play songs right from the start. In seemingly no time, I'm playing about a dozen songs, a range of barre chords, and learning fingerstyle. The bottom line is that you'd be hard-pressed to find a better guitar teacher.

I highly recommend Chris Primeau as a guitar instructor! He is knowledgeable, talented, patient and friendly. He tailors each lesson to guide a person toward their personal guitar learning goals. I have had 7 months of lessons with Chris so far and I am a true beginner but am playing songs and singing along with them, as I had hoped to do. Chris is great!!

I've been playing guitar on and off for around 12 years, recently though I wanted to actually get serious about it and learn more than what I already knew. I did a lot of research around town for a teacher that I thought would work for me, and I'm positive Chris was the right choice. The guy literally knows everything you'd ever want to know and then some. He has really helped me to overcome the limitations that I had put on myself as far as playing goes, he doesn't overwelm you with information each week, but also gives you just enough to make you think and leave you wanting more. I would highly recommend giving Chris a chance regardless of your skill level.

I've been taking lessons from Chris for over three years and there's a reason for that. As an adult guitar student I have a variety of interests when it comes to the guitar. Chris has certainly taught me a bunch of songs, but he's also taught me styles of guitar including classical, finger style, slide and travis picking. As I've progressed, Chris has introduced elements of music theory. I can't say enough about Chris's depth of knowledge and skill as a teacher. If it wasn't fun, I wouldn't do it. Chris has made learning the guitar a lot of fun and I highly recommend you give him a call!

I came to Chris with a little bit of experience six months ago after picking up the instrument again. I really wanted a proper education in the instrument and theory as well as getting better at solos. Through methodical teaching, Chris has been able to give me what I need to unlock the fretboard and improved my technique. Looking forward to more lessons with him as I advance.

Chris Primeau is largely responsible for preparing my grandson, Grayson, being accepted into Berklee College of Music- Boston. Grayson has worked with Chris over 6 years on guitar and the experience has been invaluable. Chris is a graduate of Berklee and is an excellent teacher. I recommend him very highly.

Prior to taking lessons with Chris, I had been self-taught for over 15 years with some sporadic instruction here and there. Coming from a classical piano background, I already had a good understanding of music theory and decent dexterity. Unfortunately, I had also developed several bad habits and had many gaps in my understanding of the instrument.

Chris's instruction has transformed me from someone who "plays the guitar" to someone who truly understands the instrument and its potential. In about 18 months of lessons my playing in terms of both technique and creativity are significantly improved, and I'm on the road to becoming the guitar player I've always wanted to be.

Chris Primeau is an excellent guitar instructor! At age 55, I am starting life over and wanted to pursue my long lost desire to play guitar. I had taken lessons as a teenager but even with countless hours of practice, never improved beyond beginner level. After just a few lessons with Chris, I have already surpassed my teenage skill level by far. I had tried another guitar instructor before finding Chris, but I much prefer Chris' teaching style. It's so much fun to practice popular songs rather than just playing scales or nursery school songs. I highly recommend Chris to anyone who wants to learn guitar or improve their current skills.
