Music Teachers Association Of California Kern County Branch Shafter, CA

We are a professional organization made up of teachers of all instruments in Bakersfield and the surrounding area. All of our teacher-members are highly trained musicians, holding either degrees in their field or the equivalent qualifications. Students of MTAC teachers have the opportunity to participate in a variety of recitals and adjudicated events throughout the year. There are nearly 5000 teacher-members in California.

Are you looking for a music teacher? All of our teachers have Bachelor degrees and above in music or the equivalent qualification. Our members teach a variety of styles, levels, and ages. The list below includes private, as well as group piano teachers.

How to Join

MTAC-Kern Branch offers music teachers many opportunities to exchange musical and pedagogical ideas, and gives their students a chance to be part of a larger musical community. Meetings are held monthly during the school year, and students can participate in monthly branch recitals, festivals and master classes.

Recitals

Report

Recitals are wonderful performance opportunities for students. The Kern Branch hosts recitals during the school year. A special Holiday recital is held in October where students are encouraged to wear costumes. We also hold a recital in December. This December recital is the only event that does not require music to be memorized.

Community Outreach

The Music Students' Service League (MSSL) is a community service group designed to give students in grades K - 12 opportunities to do community service through music. MTAC awards our students with community service credit for their time, efforts and talents. These awards in turn, help students to fulfill the graduation requirements of their schools and other service organizations.
