Clara Tarpley was a piano teacher in Wellington, Texas in the early 1900s, and started selling pianos in 1917. In the 1920s she started selling pianos out of a hardware store in Shamrock, Texas. During the 1920s, Pampa Texas was a booming oil town and Mrs. Tarpley decided that was the place to be.

Amarillo Music Teachers Association AMTA will have our fall kick-off meeting on Saturday, September 12. Other meetings will be held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month. Regular meetings will be at St. Thomas Catholic Church on Coulter.
