From Our Website
Our strings program currently provides instruction on Violin. There is a curriculum for young children, ages 3 through 10 and a more traditional curriculum for older students. Young beginners, ages 3 through 10, normally start in the Suzuki Method. Experience shows that this is a highly successful method with young students. Using this approach, young beginners get comfortable with the mechanics involved in playing by learning several specially selected songs by rote. Once students have acquired an adequate amount of technical proficiency and read music they may move into the Royal Conservatory Music Certificate Program.
As guitarists who have played professionally for many years we understand the frustration and confusion students, perhaps even you, suffer struggling to master the guitar. There are so many paths to try, so much information, so many YouTube videos, so much advice. Our students study select works from the standard classic guitar repertoire and highly regarded books dealing with technical issues. Works are presented to the student for consideration based on the work's importance in his technical and musical development, the status of the work within the standard repertoire, the quality of the composition as a whole along with the expressive demands in the work.
Our Piano Program follows a syllabus designed to prepare students for participation in the Royal Conservatory Music Certificate Program. This Program offers a comprehensive music education that combines tools for high-quality instruction with opportunities for personal development. Candidates graduating from each grade level gain nationwide recognition and lifelong skills. The Preparatory A and B program is designed to introduce beginners to a positive assessment experience by supporting student success and celebrating individual achievement.
