Students enrolled in music composition lessons receive personalized guidance and coursework to help them develop their technique. Students can take as few as 1 lesson per month. Free access to courses requires that students be enrolled in at least 1 lesson per month.

Online lessons are invaluable to students that have not yet entered college, those that have recently graduated, or professional composers that need a second opinion on their works. It is often hard to find a qualified composer, especially if you are limiting your search to local instructors only. Taking music composition lessons online will give the student a competitive edge and personalized attention.

Students are encouraged to explore their own, personal style of writing. When a student is enrolled in lessons, they have the option to receive training in the fundamentals of music composition: Music Theory, Counterpoint, Instrumentation, Orchestration, and Form and Analysis. In addition, they will also receive feedback that is provided at the schedule agreed upon when purchasing lessons.
How Lessons Work

Perhaps one of the most commonly asked questions from students is how, precisely, do online lessons work. Provided the student has applied and been accepted into the studio, lessons proceed in a fairly systematic way.

* Once an assignment has been submitted, students will receive a PDF booklet that includes a response to their uploaded assignment within 24 hours of the due date and time.

* Students will then be given a new assignment and expected to complete the assignment by the next due date.

* Courses will be available to students to help them solidify their foundation and improve their technique. These courses are mostly self-guided, with the exception of counterpoint, orchestration, and instrumentation, and can be done at the students leisure.

Gabriel, Mark Jenkins, Eric Whitacre, Steven Bryant, Dr. Craig Walsh, Dr. Pamela Decker, Curtis-Curtis Smith, Dr. Richard Adams, Don Hannah, Takoyoshi Suzuki, Shoichiro Hokazono, Mimi Stillman, Richard Meyrick, Dr. Paul Chihara, James Mobberley, Jeffrey Cotton, Robert Beaser, Dan Coleman, Dr. James Stivers, Bobby Scann, Professor Anthony LaBounty, and Professor Tom Leslie. He has also been privileged with the opportunity to study at multiple universities throughout the country including The University of Arizona, Arizona State University, The Universities of Nevada in Las Vegas and Reno, and Western Michigan University.
