The Summer Rocks! program at The Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music is great for kids that are interested in music and want to play music with other kids. I sent my son there last summer, and will again this summer, and he learned about many different aspects of music. He learned about music theory, how to practice, how to learn songs quickly, how to play with other kids in a band, and about recording in a recording studio. The kids even went on tour last year to the Hard Rock Hall of Fame and Cedar Point, and this year they are going on tour to Nashville and Memphis, which should be a lot of fun.

The Motor City Horns are giving lessons at the Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music, which is great for people that want to take horn lessons. They have played with some very well known musicians and if you happen to see Bob Seger on his upcoming tour, they will be playing with him. They offer trumpet, trombone, saxophone, and other winds lessons. There is also the possibility for some horn students to be placed in the student and adult bands.

The DSRPís summer camp and tour program has a ton of features to offer that make it a great value for the money. The DSRP schedules time for music theory and practicing during the day and they played several events after the camp was over at places such as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Cedar Point, which were a great way to see what the kids accomplished together. They also got the chance to record a song and shoot a music video, which you can tell they had a lot of fun doing. They even took field trips on Fridays to places like the Motown Museum and a recording studio.

The Summer Rocks summer camp program at the Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music is a good time for all the kids that attend. I sent my son to their camp and he had a ton of fun while he was there. The kids were set up in bands and got to learn a ton of songs together, while becoming really good friends over those three weeks and they still stay in contact with each other now that camp has been over. The kids went on several field trips such as the Motown Museum, a recording studio and they went on a tour to Cedar Point and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at the end of the summer.

With the beginning of the New Year coming up, I resolved that I should follow my life-long dream of being a musician. I decided to go over to the Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music and sign up to take lessons and join a band with other adult musicians. I hadn't played in a long time, but it was easy to pick back up and play some songs with a band, which I had never done before. The transition back into playing was very easy because of the support of the DSRP staff and other people I play with. It has been less than a month, but it has been a ton of fun to play in a band.

I made a resolution one year ago to get involved with music because itís something that Iíve wanted to do since I was little kid. The Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music has made the process easy for me to get involved with a band with other adults with the same wish to play music. They have two options, play in a band and take lessons, or just play in a band. I am playing in a band as well as taking lessons. Over the past year, we have learned a lot of songs that we enjoy and the DSRP has set up a ton of concerts for us to play so we know what itís like to play in front of an audience and our families can see what we have accomplished.

The Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music is the place to take your child if they are a beginner because they have a whole program to keep the students involved and interested rather than only lessons. The kids can take lessons and get involved with their band program. We chose to take our daughter there because they help the kids to grow musically and share their musical passion with the students. They also donít try to sell anything like music stores, which is great because they will give you an honest opinion about what what you may need.

The Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music has a very interesting way of teaching their students that helps to keep them focused on learning, which is why we chose to take our son there to further his musical knowledge. With their band program, they allow kids to pick the songs they want to play and the directors and teachers help them learn via those songs. We felt that our son would lose interest in classical lessons and that learning from songs he enjoys listening to would be a great way to keep him interested in music and become a better musician.

We decided to take our daughter to the Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music because we believe that she would benefit most from learning from songs she likes. Everyone at the DSRP has been very accommodating with our schedule, which goes far beyond what most places have done for us in the past. They have a great band program also, that gives students a chance to play with other children with similar aspirations. They even schedule concerts locally so the bands have a chance to play on stage in front of an audience.

The Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music has many great professional musicians to teach many instruments to those that want to learn. All of the other students care about learning to play together just as much as my child, which leads to a great atmosphere for learning. Another reason they are great is because they really care about the kidsí success and not selling them equipment because they arenít a music store. The only complaint I can think of is that they arenít open during the weekends because the teachers are out playing concerts during those days.

I had the opportunity to take my daughter and several of her friends to The Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music on a field trip this past month. We all learned about the different types of instruments and learned about how recording audio is achieved. The kids even got to record a song they picked out and it was so much fun to observe the process. The staff of the Detroit School of Rock and Pop were nice and knowledgeable and most importantly, the kids had a lot of fun recording and learning about the instruments.

My son is taking bass lessons at The Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music and really likes being there. He really likes his teacher, who has really helped his playing become a lot better. I can't remember his name, but he has played on numerous tours all over the world and been on TV multiple times. My son also plays with other kids in a band at the DSRP, and that helps him stay focused with his practicing.

My daughter has been taking guitar lessons at The Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music and has learned so much about playing guitar. She also really likes her teacher at DSRP. All of the teachers at The Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music are professional musicians, which is great because they have a lot of knowledge to share because they are out playing all the time. Another great part of The Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music is that my daughter doesnít have to take lessons in a little room in the back of a music store because the DSRP building has many rooms for lessons.

The Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music has a really great summer camp. They play as a group almost all day and learn music theory. All of the kids in the camp went to the recording studio where Eminem records. They even had a barbecue at the end of the camp. The kids also got to make a music video, which is online on Youtube so they can share it with family and friends. All of the kids from the summer camps got to go on a Tour to The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Cedar Point. The Summer Rocks camp is a great value because The Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music teaches so much to the kids.

The Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music is a glorious institution at which one can learn to play an instrument. My daughter is progressing quicker here than at any other teaching school we have been. Also, my daughter is learning to play with other young musicians in a band. Playing in a band has kept her interested in bettering herself and practicing. The staff members are all professional musicians and it shows through their teaching. The kids also play at numeruos festivals throughout the summer and other concerts during the year, which is a tremendous experience for them.

  • Great Staff, Frequent Concerts, Special Events

My son is a student at The Detroit School Of Rock And Pop Music and loves taking lessons there. All of the teachers are passionate professionals and love teaching music. My son learns to play better and learns what it is like to play with other kids in a band. They're slogan, "Stop Practicing... Start Performing," is a refreshing take on music lessons compared to the other places my son has taken lessons. They play concerts all around the area and that really keeps my son motivated to play well. This is a fantastic place to learn to play an instrument and learn to play in a band.

Finally! A place to DO what it is I want to learn! No more talking to a guy in a tiny room each week about his career and his playing. I get to DO IT! This place is fantastic. They have wonderful supportive teachers and friendly staff that care about me and my music. I couldn't ask for a better situation.
