I had the great fortune of meeting Bonnie teVelde of The teVelde Conservatory of Music (After a miserable experience with another teacher). From my very first phone call I knew that I would be VERY lucky if Bonnie had time in her schedule work teach Ukulele to myself and a group of women friend. In every way imaginable Bonnie has exceeded my expectations.

She is an extremely talented musician, has an ear for music like no one I've ever met and she's very down to earth and easy to love. In fact EVERY woman in my group loved her and would recommend her. No matter what instrument you or your kids want to explore taking lessons with your first call should be to Bonnie and her amazing team. I can't imagine anyone better.

Update: Due to COVID-19 the physical location had to close. However, the lessons live on! I've been doing live lessons via FaceTime and it's going so well! I wanted to express my tremendous debt of gratitude to Bonnie and The teVelde Conservatory of Music. It has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl to play piano. I mentioned this passion in passing to my good friend who happened to have an "extra" piano that she offered to give me for free.

I started lessons with Bonnie on October 1, 2019. I was nervous at first that it would be too hard for me to learn since I was starting so late in life (I'm almost 50) with no piano experience. My fears quickly subsided after a couple lessons. I was so excited and charged that I knew learning to play was no longer a dream, but going to become a reality.

By Christmas I was over half way through the level 1 Accelerated Piano Adventures Series for older beginners with no signs of slowing down! I love to practice and just hear myself play. Sometimes it feels like I'm listening to someone else, but it's me! I finished the entire series of Level 1 books by the end of Feb. 2020. I've already received my Level 2 books, but put them aside for a few lessons because I am currently working on (and memorizing) 2 amazing songs for ICME at the end of March: Dance of the Irish and Treasure Island.

I am still amazed that I am playing a song like Treasure Island after five months. It has 3 pages of music which covers 5 octaves on the piano along with several hand position changes for both the left and right hand. I can't express enough how rewarding it is to progress so quickly through the lessons and how far I've come in such a short amount of time. My advice to anyone contemplating taking lessons is to reach for your dreams and hold on tight because you never know how fast and high you are going to fly!

I highly recommended this place. It has been nothing but a top notch and positive experience for my son Jonathan. If you want the best for your kid and want to see them go to the next level as a person and as musician this is your place. My kid has been going here for a year and it’s been absolutely amazing. Can’t thank them enough.

I can't say enough about how wonderful this school is and the people there are just such blessings (Bonnie, Paul, Lori to name a few). Bonnie.the owner.is just amazing and was so kind to us. She REALLY took time to get to know us and to find which instructor was right for our daughter. We felt so peaceful and cared for and it is so wonderful to see how much they LOVE and encourage kids! One of the best experiences I have ever had.

The teachers at this music school really care about the students. They are patient and understanding with each student. They teach perfect pitch, theory and other important skills that lay out the foundation of learning with each lesson. Bonnie is very professional and will work hard with each student. Our son's grades in school improved so much that he made honor roll, his self confidence grew and now he loves playing music in front of family members.

Our son literally runs to the doors of the music school on his lesson days. He wouldn't do that if he didn't enjoy it. The teachers make it fun for the students and my kid is proof of that. We would highly recommend Telvelde.

Bonnie and her staff have all been very welcoming and supportive! My daughter (3y/o) has been enrolled in the SensaPitch program for 9 months and absolutely loves her teacher!! The program has been beneficial--and very unique in that it teaches perfect pitch! My daughter isn't reading sheet music quite yet, but she is able to follow along in the program song books and play 2 songs without much assistance while singing and she recognizes several notes so far. She keeps progressing week to week. I highly recommend this place!!

What a wonderful, warm, and caring music studio. As a child I had bad experiences with private violin, piano and vocal teachers. I blamed myself for getting scolded by my teacher and thought I was hopeless. It is so refreshing to see the exceptional love and care given to the students here!

When I first saw Bonnie working with my daughter (8 yrs. old), I realized I was in the presence of a master teacher. Bonnie is an expert at balancing new challenges with successes for students. She knows how to match a student's personality with the right instructor, and she uses her extraordinary musical intelligence and charisma to set young musicians up for success. More than anything, Bonnie seems to want my kids to experience the full richness, self-expression, and intellectual engagement that music has to offer.

I really like this place. My son took drum lessons and we liked the teacher, Ken, who is outgoing, motivated, unique, talented and always smiling. We hope to continue my son's music education here in the near future.

This Conservatory is run with care and craftsmanship by Bonnie teVelde. If your child wishes to study here, the first step is an interview with Bonnie. She talks with you and your child about your goals. She gets a feel for what instructor might be suitable for your child and sets up an initial lesson. My daughter Phoebe has been studying singing and Piano.

Her instructors are engaging and skilled. Some reviewers critiqued teVelde on the price they charge. I contend that the price is commensurate with the service they provide. Music instruction is difficult. It is an inherently expensive endeavor considering the training the instructors had to pay for themselves, the instruments, and the physical location.

My daughter is receiving excellent instruction at a nice facility run by a competent leader. This does not mean that teVelde is a fit for all students, but if you are looking for music instruction for your child I recommend you give them a try.

As a 21 year old with very little musical background, I wasn't sure if it was too late to learn piano, but I decided to try out some lessons at the teVelde Conservatory of Music anyways. Bonnie worked with me through the lesson books and helped me learn advanced pieces that I brought in. She kept me excited and motivated to practice and learn, and turned my slight interest in piano into a hobby that I plan to do for the rest of my life. Bonnie is an excellent teacher and the teVelde Conservatory of Music is a fantastic school.

Hi Bonnie. First off, although I have met you several times and sing Tevelde's praises to just about anyone I meet (I have referred at least three current students); I just read your bio and wow! I am humbled and impressed at the same time. I played piano and violin as a child and took voice as an adult. I have always believed in the well roundedness and personal pleasure/accomplishment/enhancement of music in ones life.

My husband plays the piano well by ear (he is an engineer, go figure) and I am more of a piece it out by music person. I will tell you: Max (5 1/2) has been in and out of activities. Some he adores, some we withdraw from. Ever since our first little piano sessions with Shea when Max was 3, I fell in love with Tevelde. First off: the connection between Ms. Shea and Max was clear.

She enthusiastically appeals to children and entices and inspires them. We did the group piano circle for a year, being the last ones in the class to hang on. The next year we attended a new school and our schedules conflicted with Max at Tevelde. Bummer. We tried an alternative school with a nice young male troubadour who I thought might work well.

Although he was skilled; he did not have the knowledge of engaging Max (children). In addition, he began teaching in a method too mature for Max. We stopped after two classes, continuing to be in touch with Tevelde and Shea about openings. When we began a new school year, Eureka, a class time opening formed and we grabbed it. Back to Shea! At times I sit in on class, sometimes watch from the wait room.

I can't help but marvel at Ms. Shea's patience, her inspirational style and she really reals Max in. He LOVES it. The material is age appropriate, she continues to engage and push him to the next level all the while making it fun. Max actually practices at home without me asking, unbelievable! I never did that as a child, my mom had to harp on me to practice ~ making it an obligation not a passion.

That's the difference. The moment Max disengages I will make a choice whether to continue, as of now: he is self propelled in this mission to learn to play piano, and wishes to play wind instruments and electric guitar as well. Max and I have attended two youth symphonies at the PAC, enjoying 3 hours of classic music together. I love that we have appreciated together the SF Nutcracker and Shen Yun, he picks out the instruments that he recognizes and gets so excited when he sees the piano rolled out onto stage. Thank you for offering the best possible school and for employing teachers like Ms. Shea who bring to life the joy of music!

I have been taking my two girls to teVelde for almost a year. They love their teachers Shea and Emily. They never complain about practicing and are excited to go to their lessons.

My daughter has only been taking lessons at TeVelde school of music for 4 months and I am amazed at the improvement I have seen! I took her to a different teacher last year for the whole year and it was practically a waste. Cassidy is an awesome piano player and a perfect match for my daughter's learning style! I feel that the online learning style and personality quiz was very helpful in matching my daughter with the right teacher. Nice job!
