Lyric coloratura soprano Patrice Burgstahler was brought to the attention of the music world with a critically acclaimed portrayal of Cunegonde in Leonard Bernstein's Candide at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. She has gone on to perform leading roles in operas of Donizetti, Mozart and Verdi throughout the United States and Europe.
The versatile singer performed the role of Carlotta in Andrew Lloyd Webber's German production of Phantom of the Opera for ten years, singing multiple performances in German at Hamburg's Neue Flora Theatre 3000 seat auditorium; hired from 800 in New York City auditions.
For ten years she was based in Hamburg, Germany, and upon her return to the United States joined the music department at Northeastern State University for four years to teach applied voice, vocal diction and other related voice classes, before returning to Colorado.
Ms. Burgstahler's credentials include a Bachelor's Degree of Music in Vocal Performance from University of Colorado at Boulder and a Master's Degree of Music in Vocal Performance at Boston Conservatory of Music under renowned opera conductor and diction expert, John Moriarty. She was one of five vocalists accepted each year into a Doctoral Cohort Program at Columbia University and will spend time this summer 2014 in NYC and has finished her doctorate.
Products & Services
My teaching philosophy consists of an individual approach with each student. Each singer has different vocal problems and those needs are directly addressed. This studio gives private instruction for singing with, above all else, the principals of a healthy voice and sound. Private Lessons are on a one-on-one basis within an hour or half-hour lesson; with half vocal technique instruction and half repertoire selection. Coaching with piano accompaniment is available at no additional cost and woven into the lesson.
- I would recommend this business
- All ages and abilities are welcome. Pricing is very affordable.
- She can't be cloned!
Patrice is a gifted professional and teacher. I am an older student and can attest that Patrice knows the right blend of challenging and encouraging her students. I am amazed at her ability to identify areas that need improvement and know exactly the right direction to resolve the issue. In addition, she enjoys teaching and lessons are fun! I have made progress and have watched everyone else in the vocal studio do the same. I am always inspired to work harder but not get "hung up" on imperfections. Every voice is unique and special in its own way.
