Oregon Music Academy Music lessons and group music classes designed to help your child learn, love, and succeed with music. Everyone at OMA is amazing to work with - the teachers, the admins, and Renee. Our sons have been taking lessons for a few years now, and they have developed their skills and had fun along the way. We appreciate that "outside" songs are encouraged in addition to the curriculum!

Our teacher has a way of inspiring excellence and enjoyment of music without undue pressure. Her encouragement and care for our daughter has made music lessons a very positive part of her education.

Dear Renee: It's been really fun and nice getting to know teacher Claudia! She is very assertive but not overpowering, sweet and understanding, very knowledgeable of her craft. As a teacher she is the combination of all the qualities above and more! As parents we're so happy we enrolled Roy to OMA, as a student Roy has found his joy for music once again and now wants to discover other stuff on the piano!

Instrument that has awoken his curiosity since little then shut off for a little while and now they are back on to new adventures! All thanks to your schools approach to music. Thank you Renee we're very happy .

I'm so happy I chose the Oregon Music Acad. to learn the cello! As an adult student, I was so scared to try learning a instrument but had always loved the cello. My instructor, Makenna, understands when I'm struggling with something, is ALWAYS patient and makes learning fun and engaging. I'm super proud of my progress and how easy it is to work with Makenna and Melody, Seth, Renee - all of the staff at OMA are so friendly, helpful, welcoming and supportive.

I'm truly grateful for Makenna's faith in my ability to meet challenges. She encourages me to stretch and I've even felt confident enough to play a virtual 'Tiny Desk Concert ' for friends at the city! It feels so good to work with the OMA and I tell everyone how great my experience has been. This is the team you want to learn from! I can't stress enough how AWESOME staff are.

I feel like I'm playing music with friends every week. Interactions with students of all ages are so friendly and reflect enjoyment for learning. Teacher Makenna is the BEST and goes above and beyond for students. I LOVE "The Swan"by Saint-Saens. One week I showed M.what I taught myself and later that week she wrote the sheet music for me in the key I liked.

She's worked with me on the hardest measures and been so encouraging. My Thanks to Renee and all of the OMA team! In May I'll celebrate my 2nd year of lessons - the best decision I ever made :

The teachers have been so wonderful! Both of our children have excelled in learning piano. They are organized and well run but also fun and personable. So glad we found Oregon Music Academy and worth the cost (I had looked around and found their price comparable to others).

We enrolled our 8yo daughter in voice lessons to help her gain confidence in herself. - She's been attending OMA for a year and a half now and the difference in her is amazing to see as a parent. She bounces down after her lessons on Saturday, and recently teased her stepdad that he was "pitchy" when he sang to her. (This from a girl who used to wistfully say that she doesn't sing in front of anyone because she "didn't know how to make her voice sound good".) We can see the fun she's having and confidence emerging from her. Signing her up with OMA has been one of the best things we've done for her. We're very happy that we've been able to carry on virtually the past few months and look forward to getting to see everyone in person when the time is right. :)

I've been taking piano lessons here for more than 10 years, with multiple different teachers. I have found the staff to be caring, conscientious, and creative, and have enjoyed every instructor I've learned from. The owners are delightful, kind, and innovative, making it a positive learning experience tailored to me and my interests.

I have had an excellent experience here. I started in October 2018 with Cello lessons and I have learned so much in a short period of time. McKenna is a great teacher. I highly reccommend OMA for music lessons for adults as well as children. Thank you OMA!

I have two children now going. My first is 9 and had never played an instrument. My second 12 joined OMA after one year of Bass at his school. He asked for private lessons after seeing how much his sister was was enjoying it. We are travelling this summer so OMA booked longer sessions for my son to make up the lessons he would be away. They were very flexible and accommodating.

Both the instructors we have, and Renee the Director, have been wonderful and caring. Besides the lessons, the kids get to perform twice a year and they have jam sessions where there is no music and they play by ear with other students. I didn't know what to expect when we signed up - but the experience has exceeded anything I had hoped for.

I took piano and cello lessons at the OMA. The teachers are very knowledgeable about the instruments they teach, love children, and great with parents. At Oregon Music accadamy your child will be excited to keep coming back for lessons because Oregon Music Acadamy is a place that makes learning music a fun and rewarding experience.

Our 10 y/o son joined Oregon Music Academy to learn guitar a few months ago and absolutely loves it. He is obsessed with what he's learned thus far and we can tell he'll be passionate about guitar for the rest of his life. We always feel welcome when we attend our weekly sessions and are amazed at what he's learned after just 10 or so lessons. He's already learning Tool, Green Day, Foo Fighters, and System of a Down riffs, so I'm in heaven!

The staff, music instructors, and facility are all fabulous. So glad to be a part of this school. Big shout out to Renee and JoLee for easily working through the administrivia so little dude can focus on shredding.

I was a student of Oregon Music Academy for around 10 years, where I was encouraged and challenged to further love and create music with my violin. I appreciated the knowledge and dedication and individualized attention my teachers brought to lessons. I also feel thankful to have known the owners, Matt and Renee for a long time now, and their love for music and people is obvious.

The cello lessons with Mike are going very smoothly. My 8 yo really enjoys coming every week and I think Mike is a great teacher, very patient and who takes time to understand my son's way of learning. He started about 8 months ago and I can see already that my son starts to enjoy learning new songs and notes. Our experience with Oregon Music Academy in Tigard has met all my expectations.

Oregon Music Academy is a fantastic place for your children, or even you, the parents, to learn music. Both of my children have been enrolled in lessons there for over two years. The teachers are great and do a wonderful job of working with children at their individual levels. (I have one child who is very enthusiastic and easy to engage and another child who is more shy and takes a while to warm up.

Their instructors managed to capitalize on their strengths, and I have watched my shy one blossom under their care!) I have also taken voice lessons there and was thrilled with how quickly my singing improved. The other thing that I love about OMA is how it promotes a sense of community. I have made several great friends there. The owners are some of the nicest people I have ever met and they have come to feel like family. I highly recommend OMA!

They are primarily interested in your money, not a great place to learn. I am an adult student that was excited to learn a new instrument. Last year I began looking for a good teacher in the Portland-metro area. At first, the Oregon Music Academy seemed like great place to start. The rates were a little high, but everyone seemed friendly, the website looked great, and it was nice that they had an established building to facilitate lessons. However, as time went on I started to feel more and more like they viewed me as income rather than a student.

The lessons were expensive compared to private teachers in the area, but they lured me with the promise of a scholarship that would reduce the monthly fees by 10%. Within 2 months there was an inexplicable rate hike that abolished the 10% discount. I brushed it off, but when my financial situation changed and I inquired about doing 2 or 3 lessons per month instead of 4, they said "We don't do that here." I responded by telling them I couldn't afford their monthly tuition, but would love to continue playing by taking fewer lessons each month.

They made it very clear to me that it was either full price or nothing at all and they were not willing to accommodate me in any way. Needless to say I left and found a private teacher and I am much happier now. Save the time, and go find someone who is more interested in the music than the money.
