I have two girls who studied at Opus119 for almost 10 years. One of my girls loves music, the other one just wants to be able to play for church worship team. Both of them had different teachers base on their interests. Director Ethan is one of the best piano teacher I have ever met. He is knowledgeable, funny, and caring. Because of him, my daughter's piano playing improved substantially.

The other piano teacher my daughter had was very kind and loving as well, of course, she would encourage her to practice more when she went to lesson unprepared, but the words were encouraging and sweet. She always shared her own baking with my girl during the holidays. My daughter is in college now. She is still texting to her teacher at Opus119. It is important to find a right teacher based on my child's interests. My girls had the best time learning piano at Opus119,

My kid goes here to study piano. Nice environment, they have recitals regularly so kids not just on stage often, they also got plenty of chances watching other kids to play. They helped many kids to win local, national even international competitions, parents are able to discuss the short / long term goals for their kids, which I think is very helpful. Parking is very easy here too.

Opus 119 has helped me to achieve the impossibles. From knowing zero percent music theory to getting 96 percent on level 10 theory test, from level zero to level advanced in two and half years, from a freshman to a senior, time has been flying by. I have not only learned piano and music theory at opus 119 but also met the most amazing teacher, Dr. B.

I love her style of teaching, her seriousness, her dedication, her personality and everything else about her. She is demanding but thoughtful and I truly enjoyed every minute of my lesson even during the toughest time, because she was the one who pushed me through and helped me to achieve my goal that was nearly impossible at first. She listened to my practice recordings in her spare time and told me where I need to improve; she taught me the parts that I didn't understand over and over again until I fully understood; she came up with various ways to help me to play well at certain parts of a piece that I was stuck at; she always replies to my emails regardless her busy schedule; she would drive all the way over to opus even on her day-off to do my make up lesson due to my schedule conflict; she gave me opportunities to perform even though I'm not one of her most talented and skilled students.

She cares deeply about her students although she acts like unreachable sometimes. She yells at me in lesson when I'm not playing my best but she also smiles at my jokes and my little dumb moments with the sweetest smile. She has very high expectations and standards for her students, so the little tiny encouragements she rarely gave, like "this time is a little bit better" "you have played better before" "you are capable." would always make my day.

She helped me to push my limits that I never thought I could accomplish a few years ago. Thank you Dr. B for putting up with me:) I would never ask for a better mentor to learn piano with these past few years. I'm extremely thankful for everything you did! (Btw: you should always eat lunch no matter how busy you are!) And thank you teacher Ariel for making music theory so much easier to learn, thanks for always putting a big smile on your face, thanks for always laughing at my jokes, thanks for bearing with my stupidity all the time:) Thank you Dr. Ethan for putting in your valuable time, patience, and encouragements during the recording and thank you for assigning me to Dr. B!

Thanks Alice for being so kind and always answering my questions & problems. Thank you all for making opus 119 a very very special place for me and a happy memory that I will never ever forget. U guys are the BEST! Miss u all already. I'm beyond grateful and honored to be a student of Dr. B and Opus 119! Would recommend 20/10!

My 5 year old took lessons here for 1 month. We then discovered that Dr. Lei had been aggressively placing my son's hands on the piano and on one occasion slapped him on the shoulder. Unacceptable. We have withdrawn him from Opus119.

I give Opus 119 5 stars without hesitation. My son started learning violin here at age 6 and he is fortunate to be under the tutelage of Ms. Noriko from the very beginning. He has been able to progress through the CM tests without difficulties to level 3 and his violin skills have progressed beyond my expectations as I am also a violin player. Yes it takes hard work on the parts of both the student and the parents to excel in music but most importantly the teacher provides the encouragement and guidance. We owe my son's continued progress to Ms. Noriko's dedications and passions to music education. Thank you Opus for providing this opportunity.

Its a decent school with some good teachers. It depends on which teacher you get. I agree with some of other reviewers, hide your purse/wallet because the school will try to get as much money as they can from you. Never seen business so greedy.

Ever saw the movie 'Whiplash'? Of course Opus119 is nowhere near as abusive as the music director portrayed in the movie. But the main take away point of the movie is that kids are too often told 'good job' nowadays just so not to hurt their feelings. Opus119 is a school that tries to take kids to their highest potentials. Our often politically correct world now even has competitions that everyone wins so kids can have 'self esteem'.

Call me old fashioned but I think self esteem is not given but earned. If you do not mind mediocrity and want your kids always feel good, this may not be the school for you. Judge the school by the countless national and international awards its students have won over the years and the number of top notch universities these kids go to. I can guarantee you one thing: these successful kids were not told 'good job' all their lives.

I agree with all the reviews I have now read that are negative. If you love your child and you are concerned about your childs mental health- don't bring them it this place. I would not even rate them with 1 star. Kelli W.

My 11 yr old daughter has been attending Opus119 Conservatory of Music since the age of 6. As a mother, I couldn't have asked for a better music school to have my daughter obtain her music education from. The faculties of this school are all great musicians in their own right, but most importantly they dedicate their time to pass-on their love of music to their students during lessons.

The school's method of teaching is not only effective in producing winners for those students who choose to pursue the path of competitions, but it is also highly effective in simply bringing the love of music into children of all ages and levels. The diverse personalities and background of the school faculties allow children of different personalities to be matched with the right teacher.

Each of the teacher have been professionally trained to teach their students proper techniques, but most importantly these teachers have been very successful in instilling the love of music and confidence in their students. Opus119 Conservatory of Music is definitely a place where every student has the opportunity to thrive in music, not only because of its dedicated faculty members, but also because of the national and international affiliations the school has with many prestigious universities and notable music festivals worldwide. Thank you Opus 119 for making my daughter's musical dream a reality!

We had been here for piano and violent class. Not a good place for beginner, they never care about kids, and all they care is money. The violent teacher even yelled and shout at my kid when teacher knew we were going to stop the lesson. This is very unprofessional. Her behavior tally traumatized my kid and made my child got scared of new teacher. I wish that no kids will been through this kind of situation anymore.

If you want to give the gift of music to yourself, a friend, or a child may I recommend Opus119. Their mission is to instill in their students a love and appreciation of music so that they may look beyond the routine of practice and allow music to become a natural and constant part of their lives, a gift to be enjoyed and shared with others. Their instructors have great training, are highly qualified, with strong academic pedigree to match.

The owner, Eaton, is very accomplished and he has a strong desire for his students to be inspired and interested. The primary musical instruments taught at this music school are violin, cello, and piano. So if your serious about learning music. you have to check out the instructors here.
