Private Lessons

Private Lessons

Private music lessons allow the student to start at any level of musical knowledge and skills and progress at their own pace. Our teachers will work one-on-one to provide customized, expert guidance to enable each student to reach his or her goals.

Lessons are weekly and include the free use of our Ear Training and Theory Training facilities. We suggest that you schedule the Ear Training and Theory Training session just prior to each regular lesson.

Our computer-based ear training and aural tests provide instant feedback. There are 41 topics such as singing intervals, correcting tuning, melodic dictation, and identifying chord progressions, designed for classical, jazz and rock/pop students, with special exercises on jazz/contemporary scales, chords and progressions.

LESSONS ARE PROVIDED FOR ALL INSTRUMENTS AND VOICE

These guys are extremely friendly and helpful. Went in to get strings for a new build. We were excited to test it out and they were excited to try it themselves, so they were kind to let us use the repair room. We broke a string and they even were kind enough to let us by a single string from a new pack. Truly above and beyond on customer service. They made my day multiple times better with their kindness. Would highly recommended shopping here.

Customer Testimonials

NOVA Music Center is an outstanding local music shop! It's the kind of place you can just hang out at, browse through a vast inventory of sheet music, play a ukulele, chat with friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff and feel right at home!! It's a favorite stop when I'm in Old Town Manassas.

I love this place. The employees have a great passion for music and teaching. If what you want isn't in stock, just ask if they can special order it for you.

Guitar effects pedals are the cornerstone of modern guitar tone. No matter which genre of music you are playing, you can still benefit from effects pedals given that you are using an electric guitar. With that said, the order in which you arrange your effects pedals is important. For many, this issue is a very personal one. However, there are still some guidelines and unwritten rules that you don't necessarily need to stick to completely, but will get you on the right track. Today we are going to take a look at those and talk a bit about what makes a solid signal chain.

When NOVA Music Center opened in December 2010 our intention was to serve the community and to advocate for music. Since opening, NOVA Music has worked with local and national charities; supported organizations to promote music in schools; and sponsored events to promote music in our community. We work with Hungry for Music to provide instruments for schools as far away as Alaska. Two Saturdays a month, NOVA Music offers its space to create a safe environment for new young bands to build an audience in a drug and drink free environment.

It has long been known that music has great power and is important in many ways in our lives. What's new is that many recent research studies show clear links between sustained participation in music and improved academic performance, social skills, and emotional health. Numerous studies have shown, for example, that music education can be a positive force on all aspects of a child's life, particularly on their academic success. Music students achieve significantly higher grades in middle and high school and on standardized tests such at the SAT.
