I appreciate all the thought and care you have put into helping my child start the musical journey. Thank you. ~ Lucy L. A real gem. Great teachers. Our piano teacher is wonderful with small children and I have heard great things about the group music class. I could not have asked for a better music school.
At The Music Place we recognize that the first five years of life are an extraordinary time, filled with wonder and exploration. It's in these early years that the path to future educational success is established. And music is an important stepping stone on that path. The philosophy that underlines everything that we do here is based on the understanding that learning must be a positive experience for kids: it should be FUN!
In addition to popular use as a teaching and assessment center, this Willow Glen facility offers ample parking and also serves as the administrative business center. Classes offered here include piano, voice, EMA, harp, family class, and almost any other instrument you can imagine.
Ongoing group classes are grouped into Tuition Tiers based on size and level. Add $10 per month to tuition rate for classes requiring payment through Purchase Orders or other third party vendors. Classes in which parents or caregivers participate are limited to 6 families and run 30 minutes. Siblings enrolled in separate classes may attend at no charge.

I would like to take this moment to thank all the staff in the Music Place for providing such a precious opportunity for Leo to explore the music world especially under this COVID environment. Special thank you to Chris and Brandon, Leo enjoys even more learning music and having more curiosity about various music instruments. He has got the BEST music experience so far and as his parent, I cannot ask anything better than what he's got.

My almost 8 year old has recently started private ukulele lessons and vocal ensemble class as well and Loves them both! I am highly impressed by the whole enrollment process which included an initial assessment with Janice (best part of the process!) followed by trying out different classes and instructors. At no point in the process did I feel rushed or pushed towards signing up.

The whole administrative team is quick and effective with communication and will work hard to find you classes, times and instructors that work for your child! (Thanks Janice, Sunny and Joy) Really excited for my daughter's musical journey here. I highly recommend taking the initial assessment as these guys really know what they are doing!

Becky for piano and Pat C. for guitar = positive, encouraging, fun and excellence. These are the teachers to get! My kids are just beginning and they love it. Their online program works just right for us. The administrative staff gives impressive customer service and organization. The Music Place really has it all, look no further.

It would be good if the teachers are treated better. Also some teachers don't have the expertise

I can't say enough about this place! we looked at a few different music schools before deciding on the Music Place, and we just felt right at home there. We loved that there was an evaluation before deciding on a teacher, and I could tell that Janice really cares about each student and matching them correctly. She saw my son right away for his skills and worked with us to find the best teacher ever, Patricia! since then, he has grown enormously with his singing and piano and confidence.

Our whole family and friends circle has been blown away. My son has Aspergers and everyone there just "got" him and celebrated him for who he is. He has participated in the recitals, and grown in his skill level to playing classical music. Patricia is so patient and firm with him, and she knows exactly how to work with him. He can be a challenge sometimes and she handles him in a very skilled way.

Since the pandemic began, we have been doing online lessons and I was worried that it would not translate well but it has been perfect. We just can't do recitals of course. It goes perfectly, I was amazed at how well she can teach and guide over a screen. If you are looking for a place to invest in your child with, this is the place. Without them, my son would not have bloomed musically and have the passion and love for music he does. I really can't say enough about Janice and the whole group at the Music Place. Truly a gem for our city.

I don't have to explain that music is essential in life. I wanted to find a solid, structured setting for my son to be introduced and reinforced to the world of sound by the experts. Ms. Valery is that expert we were looking for! She has a subtle and super fun way to get toddlers moving and shaking, all the while learning the fundamentals of music! I teardrop everytime I hear my little guy recite solfeggio so effortlessly

This place has been around for a long time and as has won many awards. My children and now my grandchildren have attended classes and camps here and had so much fun! Excellent teachers have a way of taking difficult concepts and breaking them down so even kids as young as 2 or 3 years old can learn in a fun way and feel successful. I love that they also welcome kids who have special needs and offer private and group music therapy.

My son began his music exploration here when he was 7 years old. The assessment was professional, and also helpful for me to know the potential of my kid. He was encouraged to try different kinds of instruments. He has learned to play recorder for about one year. The teacher is pretty good, professional and patient. We really enjoy the time in the Music Place.

My 4 year old son is currently enrolled in their EMA, Early Music Awareness class with Mr. Jack and loves it! Each week they learn about a new instrument. The class has fun musical games, dances and also incorporates music theory. At the end of each class, instructors give a brief overview to the parents of what they learned in class that day and sends the child home with color book print outs for the children to review at home.

Though parents do not join in the classroom, I can see my son from the waiting room area and I love seeing the joy on his face. I try not to let him see me, that way he is comfortable dancing and being silly without the feeling of my eyeballs on him. What really sets The Music Place a part from many others out there is their emphasis on a fun music education environment and experience.

We all have seen children who put up a wall or start resisting because of the pressure to succeed in a particular sport or instrument. They will get enough of that academic stress as they grow older, especially living in the Silicon Valley where if "you're not coding by 5, your child is behind". So I love, love that there is so much fun put into practice here.

My son has been asking for piano lessons and is eager to learn but he doesn't have the attention span to sit for 30 minutes and focus. He seems to be under the impression playing piano is like learning to ride a bike. And at his age, he wants immediate gratification. The Music Place has classes where they incorporate some fun elements of EMA and learning a specific instrument.

In my son's case, that would be piano. How terrific is this?! If you have young children interested in music, please do not hesitate to check this place out. They currently have a Groupon promotion for their EMA class and it is now hands down the best Groupon I've purchased.

We enrolled our 2 year old daughter in the EMA (early music awareness) family class over a year ago and we are still all very happy. The classes are such a bargain for the lovely personalized attention you receive. I usually use our local community center and parks and rec for classes but these music classes are a better value with a much nicer recently renovated classroom space and the most knowledgeable teachers.

Our daughter looks forward to class all week long. We've been most impressed with her grasp of basic note reading, identifying notes on treble and bass clefs, and all the different songs she now knows. She may be the only 3 year old we know that can identify a 5 string banjo and a piccolo! The Music Place makes it super easy to use online payment and returns emails and phone calls promptly. We adore Miss Valery and highly recommend all of her EMA classes.

My son and I attended the Family Music Class from the time he was about 18 months until he was 2.5 years old. We loved the class and all it has to offer. Miss Valery was great with the kids, my son LOVED getting to play real instruments every week, and he actually did pick up on some of the basic music theory. He could identify treble clef and quarter notes!

We moved out of San Jose in July and had to stop attending class. Then today, nearly 6 months later, my son found a Music Place business card in my wallet. He recoginzed the logo and exclaimed to me, "Miss Valery?!". To say we miss the staff at The Music Place is an understatement. I would absolutely recommend this music school and encourage you to try it out.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about The Music Place. My daughter started the "All Arts" class with Teacher Valerie about a year ago at the age of 4yrs old & she looks forward to going to class every week. The teachers are nurturing, kind, and full of great information & fun. She had a recital a few months ago & it was adorable. It was held at a convalescent home, and how darling it was to see all the residents light up when the children performed.

Not to mention what a wonderful experience it was for the children to learn to perform & give to others. The owner Janice, is full of lots of helpful information. She is very kind and knowledgeable with children. If you want, they can do an assessment on your child to determine what kind of learner they are. We found this extremely helpful & thorough. We are thankful we found such a lovely music school for my daughter to blossom & feel like she is at home. I recommend The Music Place to many of our friends & family.

My daughter is having a wonderful time in class and is so happy she is taking from Valery (been in one of her classes for 4+ years). My boys take piano and drums from Timmy and LOVE it. One of my sons hurries through breakfast so he can play the piano. My oldest takes voice lessons from Patricia. She can't wait for class each week and wants to sing professionally when she is older.

We love the Music Place for so many reasons. All my kids love music thanks to the caring teachers and the relaxed atmosphere. I was just telling Valery that I was pushed and prodded to play the piano for 12 years and now I never play. I want it to be a super positive experience and I have no expectations of how quickly my kids progress- and so far with this approach our house is filled with music constantly and they are doing wonderfully. I know it will be a lifelong love of music. Thank you all for making this possible!

5 stars all the way! Where should I start? From the very beginning, the ease and accessibility of the website was impressive. The founder & owner of the music school, Ms. Janice, set up an initial assessment appointment with my ENTIRE family. Prior to this appointment, I was very nervous about having my 4 young, active kids all in an office. I wasn't sure how it was going to work out. Ms. Janice made us feel SO WELCOME in her office.

She truly made us feel like family, and my kids actually enjoyed the music assessment! I couldn't believe how much fun my kids were having while being tested for music lesson readiness. Ms. Janice then recommended a specific vocal class for my daughter. The class was a match made in heaven for us! My daughter felt welcome in the class and had so much fun from day one.

Her vocal teachers are truly a godsend. Also, the support (office) staff is AMAZING. They have treated us with an exceptional level of love and kindness. I can't say enough about them! My daughter looks forward to practice time at home, and especially enjoys her music class! I could not have asked for a better music school. God willing, we will continue with The Music Place for many more years to come!

Our two boys both have weekly music lessons at The Music Place - our 12 year old has been studying guitar with Ivan for nearly two years, while our 10 year old recently started piano with Cymber. Both are great teachers who allow our boys to follow their musical interests while developing their technique. Our 12 year old in particular has a keen interest in music theory; Ivan has encouraged him in his compositions while balancing theory with practice. The facility itself is friendly, warm and welcoming, with free wifi in the lobby - a real boon for busy parents!

My 10 year-old son is taking guitar lessons, and my 7 year-old daughter is taking piano and vocal ensemble. Before signing up, we met with the staff for music assessments. I was very surprised by the thoroughness of the assessments and individualized recommendations, which were based on things like aptitude, interest, and behavioral traits. Having taken lessons myself and experience trying to find a good music instructor years ago for my eldest daughter, I have been impressed by the staff members' professionalism and pleased with their efforts to help us work in music to our family's schedules.

My children have been going to Music place for 3+ years now and they really love it! The teachers are really dedicated and they try to match children with teachers with similar goals and temperament. Their goal is to create a safe and enjoyable learning environment for the children than put them under a lot of pressure. Janice Morris, the founder and owner, has been very helpful in navigating the school as my kids are growing up and have different needs in their musical evolution/journey.

I enrolled my son in private instrumental survey classes trying to find the right instrument for him to play. Its been a wonderful seven weeks journey and I am very grateful to Janice, patiently replying answering my worries and helping us sort out which combination of instruments to start with. She started us off with a free assignment to know where my son's talent is in and have been supportive of our choices throughout.

Our first teacher was Ivan and he is very good and enthusiastic with the drums and showed my son how music composition goes. He had Shawn and Jared next and both teachers greatly inspired him, playing his favourite songs and letting him know he could play it too, with ample practice. You could tell he is inspired because he got on the keyboard immediately after music class and tried to compose his own. I would greatly recommend the music place for everyone who loves music and want the best experience for their kids.

My kids loved the Early Music Awareness (EMA) classes, and take dance classes at their Willow Glen location too. They have such a great heart for people of all ages and levels, in addition to quality instruction for music (and dance). And it's fun for my kids too!

My granddaughter attended The Music Place and loved it. I was extremely impressed with the individual attention she received in her EMA class. She loved her time there and talked about how much fun she had with her teacher and classmates. So glad I signed her up there. Pat B,

A real gem. Great teachers. Our piano teacher is wonderful with small children and I have heard great things about the group music class. They are careful to make sure that music lessons are given to children when they are ready and age is not a factor. This is a Christian company but they do not concentrate solely on Christian themes or music.
