Decided to enroll my 5yo to music as both my husband and I love music. He enjoys taking lessons! It really comes down to who the teacher you're assigned to. You just gotta make sure the teacher start and end as scheduled because every minute counts. I wish there was a sign-in and sign-out system to keep track. Other than that, I can't complain.

My daughter takes piano lessons with Nonna and she absolutely loves her. She says that Nonna's teaching technique is warm and encouraging and that she looks forward to her weekly lessons. Also the staff at Music Maker is lovely, they are kind and helpful. If you are looking for music/singing lessons for you or your child, look no further, Music Maker has it all.

I went in for a cello string for my 5th grader's borrowed instrument. When I was told the price, I thought I misheard the young man. It was $89 plus tax. I questioned why, since the teacher at school had said it should be roughly $20. I was told it's because you shouldn't change one string and this was a set. I was speechless but my son needed the string.

A mile or so away from the store, I stopped and called another music store and was told the string was $15 and they had singles. So I went back and requested a refund. They got the boss to do the refund and she found a single string for me to purchase, at $30. At this point, I was very flustered and wanted to be done, so I agreed. The boss was polite but did not apologize for the situation. This review is only for the retail side as I have no knowledge of their classes.

The place advertises its self as a retail music store but really it's geared towards people learning music. A very impressive selection of music learning books. Probably the best place to go if you're looking for a book. Only 1 keyboard and its a entry level model. 2 bass guitars; entry level and I think they are the same model just different color. Cashier seemed nice enough but he didn't know what a guitar scale is or what scale the 2 bass for sale were.

They were both a standard 34 scale, a inappropriate choice for a kid and/ or someone learning bass. Did I mention poor gear selection? This place really is a school, not a retailer aside from books.

Im a 50 year old man and picked up a guitar for the first time. I signed up to take a group guitar class with Luis Viramontes. Great guitar player and instructor! Very pleasant, patient, professional and knowledgeable. He is totally focused on helping students progress. He pushes students while still moving at their pace. He responds to questions I had between lessons. Loved his attitude and how pleasant he was. Luis' methods and personality made it both fun and educational.

I would recommend Luis without reservation to anyone wishing to learn guitar, regardless of age, skill level or musical interest. I am looking forward to taking his next group class soon.

Participated in the mommy and me class while I was on maternity leave. I indicated at that time of enrollment that it would only be a 6 week duration. They didn't record the duration so charged me late fees during months that I wasn't even attending. Its a shame because we had a great experience in the class with Ms Lynn. They value chasing down an additional $10 more than hoping to have customers come back for future business.

Through the years I have owned many guitars. Most of these I bought at Guitar Center or Moody Music, so I thought I was familiar with the retail of musical instruments. The retailer is musically-talented and knowledgable. Their enthusiasm making you eager to make your purchase. It feels good. Music Maker was none of that. We went in to buy a violin for my kid.

The person who helped us was completely unenthusiastic. We were bothering him, obviously. No small talk no passing on of tips or wisdom. The experience sucked. We still have the violin. It was really good quality, but that probably wasn't Music Maker's fault.

My boys have been receiving piano lesson from this fine location for over 5 years. My boys have excelled beyond what we had originally expected. They now love playing with multiple instruments (Violin, Trumphet, Bass, French Horn). I highly recommend this place.

I went into this store yesterday to price cellos and private lessons. The store was packed with parents and kids and the staff was overwhelmed. Although overwhelmed a member attended to me in a timely manner and was always courteous. My son will be getting private lessons at this location in the near future.

I came here for years. I stopped now, but I thought I should write a review. I took private one to one violin lessons here. I've learned so much and I loved coming here. My tutor was Ms. Staeler (hope I spelled that right). She became my friend and she really cares about the people she tutors and goes out of her way to helping them. She is a talented violinist (also violist).

She really helped me with my hand movements and my tone. She helped me a lot through life. I definitely recommend having her tutor anyone looking to get better. Overall, great Service and store! Thank you Ms. Staeler for everything!

I had gone through three different enrollment processes with Music Maker for my daughter's lessons. I've never had good experience with their administration. The only reason that I went back for the third time was due to the geological convenience and the hours. I regretted greatly that I went back. They never change. The owner does not have common sense nor a business mind.

The other two staff members, man and especially the woman, at the front counter are rude, inefficient and unprofessional. We are going back to the other music center although it is far more inconvenient for us. I would never recommend Music Maker.

They were too busy for my business to change a string on my daughter's violin. No technician available until 5-9pm. Also very expensive to replace the string. I went a few miles up the road to "The Music Lab" and had a great experience, very price friendly, super fast and friendly! Also, they have a better review on Yelp! The Music Lab will have my continued business!

Great piano classes. They have just started piano lessons for children using the Yamaha method. It teaches children to play by ear as well as learn notes. The Yamaha Program is very well designed. The teachers are great. This is the perfect class for my 5-year old.

Love the mommy and me class! The mommy and me music class teaches more than music. It teaches social skills and interaction among other skills. We've been attending since my daughter was 18 months. She just turned 3 years old and we've rarely missed a class. I highly recommend. My thought on the negative review is that it must have been a misunderstanding. The teacher is a wonderfully loving person. I can see her asking questions because she finds joy in all kids and all ages. She has a gift with little ones.

My son and I have been attending mommy and me music class for about 5 months. Unlike the review below, my experience has been great. My son truly enjoyed the baby class and is now enjoying the toddler class. I was thrilled when I found this location. I searched various sites and cities to find a weekend class. Most mommy and me courses were offered weekday mornings and that does not accommodate a working parent. This site has weekend options!

If you are a beginner in playing violin & don't care about quality, the music maker is perfect for u. We purchase a $200 violin here only to find out it's a piece of crap worth less than $50. We didn't know better bc my daughter just started playing violin in 5th grade. Now 3 yrs later & more experience, didn't make the same mistake w my son. Went to Robert Cauer in La & purchase quality violins.

My son is a beginner but the violin fr Robert Cauer made him sound just like his advance sister. So if you don't care about quality of the violin or bow or kids will only be playing a yr or less, cheapy & low quality is the way to go, this place is perfect. At least the music books here r good. But hv to give the lady here credit, she didn't claim to b selling me quality violin so I give them a 3 star for that.

Had a really bad experience with my first the mommy and me music class there! The teacher singled me out and questioned me on the size of my child ( she's 7 months) because she was "too small". She insisted on asking me on her weight and percentage even though it was clear that I was very uncomfortable with all the questioning. Finally, another mom in the class told her she just may look small compared to Rogers. I'm thankful she intercepted because otherwise I would have been questioned for the remaining of class probably. Talk about feeling " welcomed" in a class

My family has rented and purchased instruments from Music Maker over the years and all experiences we have had with them have been very positive. When the school my daughter attended provided music instruction we rented-to-purchase a viola for her. It was in perfect condition and was used subsequently by another daughter a few years later. Our son decided to choose the french horn versus using the viola we already had.

And yes.the Music Maker was there for us. Again we rented-to-own and had a great experience with a very high quality, reasonably priced musical instrument. Years later, one of our daughters took vocal lessons from Lynn and guitar lessons from Tom. Our youngest daughter then decided to take vocal and guitar lessons (Calvin is an awesome guitar teacher) so of course we chose the Music Maker for her.

She went on to have a career in music and created her own music production company. When she wanted to shoot a music video, the Music Maker graciously volunteered the store for us to shoot a few scenes in. Bonnie, the owner, has provided us with 20+ years of quality, professional, courteous services. She is very interested in the progress and success of her students. I highly recommend the Music Maker!

My son loved his class here! Great learning enviornment for lil ones! Much cheaper than going to Gymboree class, and I actually liked the class better than what Gymboree offers.

Growing up, I used to go here to get all my books and accessories for my music hobbies and from what I remember, I didn't ever experience a problem. Recently though, I went back (after years) to shop around for an electric guitar. I walked in to the store and was just browsing around. The two people that worked there were just having a conversation with each other and paid no attention to me.

When I approached them to ask about warranties, one of the guys was VERY rude and impatient with me. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now, but I'm much less inclined to go here now.

My daughter takes violin class here (they go to her school each week for the entire school year) and they are absolutely wonderful, I would recommend The Music Maker to any family. My daughter is in 3rd grade so she will have her choice of instruments for many years because I know how important it is to have music in your life. I'm not sure what she will love but I know that she has discovered a love for creating music. Here is a little video I created for her class. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9wvMobBNYY

We visited this store for the first time to see if they had an electric guitar for our child for xmas. We had the best time looking around at all of the great musical items, instruments, etc. Great service, something you will not receive ordering online. The owner was there and she was very helpful as were the employees. If you're looking for music, an instrument, lessons or just have a some time to kill, this is a great store.
