I had such a wonderful experience at Moze Guitars yesterday! Gene was incredibly kind, helpful and patient as I shopped for a ukulele, which I knew nothing about. I felt like he truly cared, which is a breath of fresh air these days. Thanks for taking such great care of me and providing a memorable customer service experience! We will be back. :

Been coming here about 16 years now. The staff is very knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to communicate with. I've never had any issues with them. Their guitar work is stellar! They are what a local guitar shop ought to be!

I first met Moze in 1978. He built me a birdseye maple dreadnaught that sounds great today, 44 years later. He also built me a classical guitar in 1979 that sounds silky smooth, but has plenty of punch. His craftsmanship is superior. This year he turned my 1980's Gibson L6-S into a beast, by installing Seymour Duncan Invaders as the bridge pickups and Seymour Duncan 59's for the neck pickups. Truly a legend in his own time! If you need a guitar repaired, or adjusted, go to the best in San Diego.

Great guys, they greet me every time I come in (even though i'm probably a nuisance) and are very welcoming. The prices are great and the service is greater. They've got the best selection of used tube amps (and solid state) ever. I wouldn't be surprised if my next amp comes from these guys. They also don't lock up their guitars (ahem, Guitar Center) so you're free to play any instrument, as long as you treat it with respect.

The selection is great too, anything from Squiers, to MIJ Lawsuit era's, to MIA Fenders & Gibsons. They even let you plug into the amps and don't yell at you for going past 1 on the volume (once again, GC would).

Took my Ernie Ball Stingray 5 bass in to have it set up for the first time since I got it 8 years ago. I just got it back and they did an amazing job. It has always been a great sounding bass, but I swear it sounds better and is more playable now than it ever has been. Highly recommend these guys.

Brought in my guitar - 1950somethingorother, Epiphone Frontier for a refresh with the added BONUS of somebody in the shop having to (try and) tune an Oscar Schmidt autoharp (insert laugh track)! Nothing but the BEST of friendly helpfulness. You love your music? They do too. Walt : Listen to Wild Man Fischer if you haven't already. It was a pleasure dealing with you folks. SF in IB

I've been going to Moze since he was on College Avenue for many years now. Recently however he has some new people working for him that are rude and condescending. They actually damaged my G&L by trying to jam noiseless pick ups into it that it wasn't designed for. Instead of calling me up they tried to push them in and distorted the pick guard. They also were unable to set the guitar up.

The best way I can describe the guys face who took care of me while I was dealing with this was a contemptuous sneer. The bank got my money back but I'll never go here again.

These guys are so fantastic. I used to deal with him 30 years ago, so imagine my delight when I came in to see them and found that was the same music store I have been working with before I put down the guitar. I enrolled in guitar lessons with Ian, and I have been nothing but pleased with his style and teaching capabilities. I highly recommend this store for beginners, intermediates and pros!

I've been going off and on to Moze since the 70s? And as you can read in the reviews, sometimes you get lucky and deal with one of the old timers. I had the misfortune of having to interact with a guy at the front desk for my experience who was unpleasant, condescending, and a liar. I brought my G and L in for a setup and to have Fender noisless pickups installed.

The first issue was it took far longer than originally estimated, almost a month. The second was the setup was too low and the strings buzzed - It was so obvious even Walt, one of the old timers concurred. The tech took it back and fiddled for a minute and handed it back. When I got home it was still buzzing so I raised it myself. I also noted the intonation was off.

I then noticed the pickguard was extremely warped. I took it back and showed it to Walt and the tech. They said it was an old pickguard and warping was natural, that I should go to a few websites and look for a replacement. I got home and did some research on replacing pickguards, and while I was inspecting the guitar I noticed that the issue wasn't warping from old age - The issue was the tech had tried to cram the larger pickups into an area they weren't designed for and the pickguard was now raised on both sides.

I took it back again to show them and my front desk guy tried to tell me they had explained the issue to me. That's a boldfaced lie. I was told it was age. At any rate, I told them to put my old pickups back. And I also mentioned while they were doing that to check the intonation and setup, as I had been forced to fix the setup issues myself.

When I picked it up I asked about a partial refund (The setup and pickup install was $150) In my view the tech should have called me as soon as he realized the pickups weren't a good fit and were distorting the pickguard. Front desk guy blew up. According to him they had set the guitar up three times for me which was totally false. And he felt they had done me a favor by not charging me to re-install the old pickups.

I told him I'd let the bank figure it out since I have to now dispute the charge. Gene, another old timer, had assured me the work was guaranteed for 30 days when I initially dropped the guitar off. Word of advice: If you do bring something back be prepared to be villainized. The worst part is they screwed up my vintage G and L. See the photo.

They cracked the pickup and installed them incorrectly, once again distorting the pickguard. There was not a space there when I dropped it off. At least the setup feels better, although the intonation is still not right. Hopefully they haven't messed anything else up. I should take them to small claims court for what they did to my vintage guitar I've had for 20 years. So be advised. This place isn't what it used to be.

They are the best. Been going there since they were on College Ave. Good selection of guitar, amps and such, competent and friendly staff and really good instructors. I have had luthier work done there and very happy with the quality. I take lessons there and am continually improving with a very qualified, patient and supportive instructor.

One of the best guitar shops I've been to. Not a very wide selection (at least for the guitars I'm looking for or interested in) but they have a lot of parts if you need any replacements. The staff has always been welcoming and friendly whenever I go to visit. This place definitely gets my 5 star rating

I brought in my brand new fender player strat and I was nervous to hand it off to anybody but these guys delivered early and made me feel like my guitar was in good hands. They don't just blindly take in your guitar and put a cookie cutter set up on it and call it a day. They will inspect it in front of you and pick your brain about your preferences to tuning, strings, and are more than happy to make suggestions if you don't know.

If you love your guitar, they will absolutely love it too. They kept complimenting the look of my guitar, so I knew they wouldn't forget about it like most shops. I'm sure if you brought back a guitar for adjustments, they would probably remember you, your axe, and the case it came in. They gave me a week estimate but got it back to me within a few days playing WAAAY better than when it came out of the factory.

They said I can stop by any time if I need any more adjustments. I was so happy with these guys, I ended up leaving a bass with them that same day. I love playing my guitar so much more now and since the color stood out to these guys so much, I've started calling it John Mayo. I've left an acoustic 3 weeks ago at another REPAIR shop in the Clairemont ZONE and I still haven't gotten it back.

In the mean time I've gotten my guitar in and out of Moze in a fraction of that time. I will never go to another guitar shop unless it's Moze. To all those who have been searching for the best guitar shop in San Diego, this is the place.

I do not play guitar and my 10 year old daughter wanted to start. She is a lefty. We did not want her to get frustrated so we decided we should try and find her a left handed guitar but did not want to spend a fortune. Moze guitars was very helpful and was able to set her up with a guitar very quickly! They made sure she was going to play lefty, found one perfect for her size and is stringing it for us. They love guitars and you can tell they want people to play them! Thank you so much!

The last guitar shop in San Diego. Helpful, knowledgeable, down to earth staff. Many beautiful instruments and amplifiers. Quality repair work. Quit buying instruments that you never played online! Visit a guitar shop and hold it in your hands before buying. Can't beat that.

Be honest about your capabilities. I was given the estimation of a 10 day wait for my guitar set up. With no call or update from Moze guitars I decided to pick it up after it got to 20 days waiting. I sent my dad to get it and they apologized and asked for two more days. Two days past and nothing. So I went and picked it up after more than 3 weeks of waiting for it to be in the same condition as I left it. If the business has a lot of orders I can understand that, but you need to be honest to your customers about your capabilities.

This place is sooooo rude. They have a parking lot with NO CARS in the entire lot and rudely taped a note to my window to tell me I couldn't park there for 60 minutes in this completely EMPTY parking lot.

One of my favorite stores. Been coming here since I was a kid still learning to play and couldn't reach the counter lol. Bought most of my pedals and gear from here. Friendly and knowledgeable staff and guitar repair techs. Beautiful guitars from custom modern builds to classic vintage guitars. Highly recommend.5 stars!

I've brought in an old broken acoustic and their repair man did a great job restoring it to it's former glory. The repair was done BEFORE their estimated date. When I picked it up the guitar it was so clean and shiny it looked brand new. The guys behind the counter are super nice as well. Definitely going to keep supporting this local business.

I bought a guitar off somebody and it wasn't in the best conditions. the playability was really off and I almost regretted the purchase. but when I brought it into Moze, they helped me with a bunch of upgrades like adding new locking tuners, fixed my Bigsby, added new pickups and wiring and were accommodating with everything I wanted. They're so helpful and made my guitar feel like a million bucks. The team at Moze's knows what they're doing and will take care of you all the way through. Best customer service ever.

Moze Guitars is a San Diego institution that I fully endorse! I used to venture into their old location by College years back and were always impressed with their knowledge and workshop as well. These are skilled craftspeople who are passionate about their profession and it shows. Since my Telecaster needed some TLC in the electronic department due to issues with scratchiness and wiring I had to take it to Moze's.

Not only did they remedy the issue in a timely fashion, but it seems like it is better than ever now and that is great news for me! Extra friendly and pleasant staff and I highly recommend them for any repairs or setups your instrument needs as well as their always interesting selection of instruments, amps, and accessories on site. Thanks Moze and I'll be back again soon!

I brought them a severely neglected fretless bass, i purchased on reverb. The fingerboard wes allowed to dry and warp. No amount of neck and string height adjustment could correct. I left with an expert set up and a resurfaced fretboard with amazing tone.( Thank you!) Also a great place to find the instrument you were looking for.

Have stopped by a few times now, one just before they were closing and so we just peeked in and saw they had a lot of cool stuff and then another time to check out acoustic options. Quite a variety of gear available, from budget/student options on up to high end and rare acoustics and vintage amps. Staff are pretty busy with projects behind the counter it seems but have been very welcoming and friendly when I needed some input.

They are pretty open to just letting you look/play and can also take time to answer your questions if you have them. Much better experience than going to Guitar Center and trying to hear your own thoughts, plus you are supporting small local business. Will be back for sure!

Moze has it all. Great selection of new and used equipment, incredibly friendly/knowledgeable staff, and most importantly, a genuine pride for the store and their craft. They have fixed many guitars for me over the years, and I've even sold equipment through them as well. Everything has been a great experience and I always look forward to going in. Can't recommend this store enough!

Today they fixed my botched installation of my Jazz bass 60's Fender custom shop pickups and potentiometers while I waited for cheap and got to chat with the other aging musicians about avoiding gout outbreaks. I had one wire soldered in wrong. They are old school. The last guitar I had them work on the price went from the quoted $65 to $95 and no explanation or mention of it was made. I was like, " cool, they must have had to do something else. " Because, they are fair and good, I did not question the bill.

This is a great place to find guitars, mandolin fiddles, Banjos and a host of other stringed instruments and accessories. I usually get my instruments repaired here because the do good we work at reasonable prices. I once got a better estimate at guitar center to repair a banjo. After waiting a week, I became impatient picked up my banjo and took it to Moze to complete the job. Moze did an excellent job in no time flat and fugh ior reasonable fee. Don't get me wrong Guitar Center does do good work on guitars, but Banjos are a different story. I always regret it when I take an instrument elsewhere for repair. Stop in and tell them George Noble Jr sent you.
