Studying guitar at Houston Music Academy is a rewarding experience. We are focused on developing you not only as a guitarist, but a complete musician. On the guitar side, there's technique, competence, theory and tunes. On the musician side you put it all together and will have opportunities to play/jam with your fellow students and faculty.
Kids are capable of learning just about any style of music. For guitar, that's quite a range! At Houston Music Academy, kids are provided with an opportunity to try different genres. Of course most kids are interested in pop and rock and these two genres can provide a significant foundation for technique and repertoire and are encouraged.
Plugin to anelectric guitar experience at Houston Music Academy! We love to rock and jam to just about any musical genre. Since Les Paul created the first solid body electric guitar, the phenomenal ability to craft one's individual tone and individual sonic personality continues to grow today. Houston Music Academy's Guitar program is the first step in a solid music foundation and learning to play Guitar like a professional.
For Houston Music Academy, the classical guitar represents an exploration and experimentation. It is one of the most expressive instruments considering it is a string instrument sympathetic to every touch. In the beginning, there might seem to be a lot of information and small mountains to climb, but it's worth it.
Dr. Patricia Brown, a long-standing member of the Texas Medical Center Orchestra, has joined the Houston Music Academy as an instructor. Coming from a classical flute background, she has studied with flutists from the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. She has played professionally for opera and ballet and as a session musician. She is a founding memeber of the classical group, Lyric Ensemble Houston which performs at the Children's Museum, private functions, and exhibits.

Our son has been participating at HMA since Spring 2017. He started taking guitar and voice classes and, at this moment, he is taking piano classes and doing a great learning progress with the instructional support of Mr. Parker. Before we enrolled him at HMA, we were looking for a music school that could offer us a welcoming environment, professionalism and - the most important for us as parents- a instructor that could establish a meaningful relationship with our son, in a one- to- one interaction; especially, the emotional care and sensitiveness that our son needs to enjoy both his music learning development and his experience of success, in order to keep him motivated and with a strong confident as a music student. We found all those aspects at HMA and we are thankful for this opportunity.

Sign up and you will grow not only vocally, but creatively. I really enjoy how I'm instructed in a way that allows for creative freedom yet collaboration. I began wanting to strengthen myself vocally, but have achieved so much more in songwriting, recording original songs and David is so talented putting music to your words or even a rough draft recording of an idea/melody. If your looking to express yourself musically this is the #1 place to do so.

As an elementary-level drummer, I was seeking instruction that would provide guidance and a foundation to progress in my drumming skills. I have found the instruction at HMA to be helpful in starting with solid principles of drumming, avoiding the pitfalls of learning bad habits on my own. The teaching is done with careful attention to a student's individual needs.

I would recommend HMA to those who desire music instruction tailored to their specific level. Artistic development is not a "one size fits all" endeavor. HMA patiently provides structure and accountability to match each student's needs.

I have been studding guitar for over a year at Houston Music Academy. Couldn't be happier with my instructor who's one of Houston's top players. Nothing but smiles when I finish my lesson. Love the location! There is a small town vibe in this area that you can't find anywhere else. Easy in and easy out. Plenty of parking and cool hangs like the Bellaire Coffee Shop.

They have nice studios and keep a clean environment. Part of the space doubles as a small acoustic guitar shop. Fun! One nice thing about HMA is there's no registration fee and a no hassle policy about rescheduling lessons. The hours of operation could be a little better. Not open on Sunday. Over all 5 stars!
