I am having a blast and am so excited to finally be learning how to play guitar. Jim is so encouraging and patient while navigating the lesson through all the complexities and beauty of the guitar. One does not have to have a musical background to study with Jim. I was in chorus and studied piano more years ago than I care to admit and had forgotten most of the theory, if not all. The Guitar Chicago style of teaching allows the student to have a practical learning experience first so that when Jim does incorporate theory there are many aha moments, which strengthens the practical abilities, which strengthens the theoretical knowledge and so on. I highly recommend Jim Lenger and Guitar Chicago.

From Our Website

Guitar Chicago is located on Michigan Avenue across from Millennium Park in downtown Chicago. Perfect for those working downtown, lessons are a short walk from most businesses. We are located in the Crain Communications building - 28th Floor - 150 North Michigan Ave Chicago, IL 60601. Guitar Chicago - West Loop is located on Wacker Drive between Monroe and Adams in the Financial District. We are located at 150 S Wacker Drive - 24th Floor - Chicago, IL 60606. Founder of the Guitar Cities schools and a graduate of Hope College in Psychology and Music, James Lenger has been teaching guitar and bass professionally for 26 years and has given over 75,000 lessons during that time.

I have been taking weekly lessons with Jim for over 1 year. In that time I have learned more from Jim than from any previous instructor over the past 10 years. Jim is not only an excellent guitarist he is a very good teacher who is able to push me to extend my comfort zone with the guitar while also recognizing that a busy professional life and other commitments sometimes don't allow for as much practice time as we would like. I am learning a lot about the things that interest me (music theory, scales, etc.), but at my own pace without feeling the pressure of having to pass a "test" each week.

New students: Please reserve your lesson before sending payment by contacting us here or email at scheduling@guitarcities.com or by phone at (312)863-8588.
