Mr. Chris Gawlik combines unique experiences as a luthier, professional violinist and violin teacher. He has an extensive experiences performing with professional symphony orchestras, and extraordinary talents and abilities in shaping students into exceptional violinists. Mr. Gawlik also has a vast knowledge and expertise in string instruments; instrument restoration; repair and bow rehair.
He attended the Academy of Music from kindergarten through high school, and studied both violin and piano at the Krakow Conservatory of Music. Upon completion, he joined the Polish National Radio Symphony under the baton of Antonio Witt. As a versatile violinist, Mr.Gawlik had performed for 10 years as the violinist with the famous group “Pod Bud”. The group had performed throughout Europe, made many recordings and TV appearances, and received several top musical awards throughout Poland.
Since moving to USA, Mr. Gawlik has performed with the National Chamber Orchestra in DC; the Savannah Symphony in GA; Charleston Symphony in SC; the Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle in NC; North Carolina Opera Company; Virginia Symphony Orchestra, and many others. A certified Suzuki violin teacher (Books 1-10); Mr. Gawlik has been a faculty member of the SC Suzuki Institute at Furman University since 1997.
He had studied bow making with Reed Hudson of British Columbia, and spent three years studying violin making with his business partner, Dr. Christopher DeGroot(a former graduate and faculty member of Violin Making School of America in Salt Lake City, and a past president of the Violin Society of America).The Gawlik Violin Co. was established in Greenville in 1993.

The purpose of Gawlik Violins Strings Program Is to provide the highest quality instructions based on undisputable principles of violin playing; leading through the path of music literacy, ear training, and to develop each child’s musical skills and confidence through technical and musical mastery by combining all of the teaching methods, philosophies and repertoires!
By combining both Suzuki & Traditional methods in our teaching, our students benefit greatly with broad exposure of repertoires, musical styles and techniques. There is no one method that fits every student! In order for students to grow musically, we believe that every teacher must follow and adapt to each individual student!
