Larry Beekman is a well-known guitarist, teacher and arranger in the Kansas City area. Larry specializes in teaching acoustic, classical and finger-style guitar. His many books of finger-style guitar arrangements (published either by Hal Leonard Publishing Corporation or Larry Beekman Guitar Studio) have attracted international attention. He has been performing and teaching guitar since 1975. His influences have come from many styles of music, including classical, jazz, pop, rock & roll, and even folk music from around the world.

Larry Beekman's guitar method, "How to Play the Acoustic Guitar", is a two volume set. The method books introduce the student to traditional music reading as well as chord strumming and fingerpicking techniques, and music theory. The books are described in more detail in the information below. You will also find music samples as well as performances of pieces in the books.
Larry Beekman has been teaching guitar at various colleges and music studios in the Kansas City area since 1975. He specializes in acoustic finger-style, classical, and folk guitar. Because of the virus, that of course got cancelled. But, with a little help from my video expert friend, Mike Snell, we were able to pull off a virtual ensemble performance! Larry is an excellent guitarist and teacher, but an even better person. He has been teaching for many years. His students range in age from grade school all the way up to people like me trying to learn to play late in life. Check out his concerts on YouTube and you'll see If you're looking for a consistent, effective approach with a good blend of encouragement and challenge, Larry is a great choice.
