Russ and Sandy Highland, the current owners of the Drum Center of Lexington, purchased the business from Candice Toole on June 26th, 2007. Russ and Sandy have been married since 1990, and both have lived in Lexington most of their lives. In addition, both Russ and Sandy have an extreme passion and respect for music. Russ Highland has been drumming since the age of 13, and he was one of Kevin's first customers at the Drum Center of Lexington. He has drummed for many area bands including Magic, Toys, Dixie LaRue, 5-Below, and Catch 22. Russ currently serves as drummer for Northeast Christian Church as well the Lexington-based band, Vanguard.


The Drum Center is proud to offer it's customers great deals and services on drum kits, cymbals, hand drums, auxiliary percussion instruments, method books, and DVD's. We also provide our community with first-rate, affordable percussion lessons and clinics. In addition, here are a number of other percussion related services we are happy to provide. Purchase any drum kit from The Drum Center of Lexington, and we will gladly tune your drums free of charge as long as you own them. We will also replace and tune any new drumhead you purchase from us.


The Drum Center of Lexington offers drum lessons Monday through Saturday to students of all ages and abilities. Lessons generally meet once a week for 30 minutes and cost $25 a lesson or $90 per month (one lesson per week). For more information, please contact the store or one of our individual teachers. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday Dave Farris has been teaching at the Drum Center since the first day it opened (14 years +). Dave has traveled the globe, studying with great percussionists like Madawo Gideon Folie Alorwoyie (Ghana), Anthony Carillo (Puerto Rico), Ya Ya Diallo (Mali), Raj Pandya (India), and Jim Campbell (USA).
