I could not have asked for a better music teacher for my girl than Mr. Kurt. He is very caring and acknowledgeable when it comes to music.

Starting guitar lessons at Columbia School of Music has been a positive transformational experience in my life. I am in my late 40s and didn't think it was possible to learn music later in life, but Mr. Kurt proved me wrong. I am learning something new in every class and making progress everyday. The sessions are fun and engaging, and I look forward to them every week. Mr Kurt teaching demonstrates the perfect mixture of patient practice for improvement and new pieces that keep the motivation constant. It has been worth every minute of my time.

He is truly a teacher for kids. He can relate and find ways to make it fun for them. His method of combining music (CD) with the lesson has enabled my daughter to advance further than I expected. She has been his student for 3 1/2 years and has enjoyed working hard to show her accomplishment to him. At first, I was skeptical about the CD since I didn't learn it that way but the CD teaching provides enrichment to the learning for the kids. It is fun.

Customer Testimonials

Thank you for expanding our daughter's music education beyond just playing notes. She is growing in many ways right now. Children are like flowers. Our daughter's flower must just be opening very slowly. We appreciate your gardening skills!

You were by far my best teacher and I only wish that you could have moved to Grand Cayman. Think about it. Lying on the beach every day and teaching me for an hour each week. I am positive that your school is doing well; your students are blessed to have you.

During the past 8 months, our daughter has learned how to play, read and understand music at Columbia School of Music. Mr. Kurt has a unique style of teaching that brings out the best in all of his students. He is fair, patient and takes time to make sure that all students produce quality work. Mr. Kurt is truly dedicated to teaching and sharing his craft.

These guidelines will help you to have a successful, rewarding experience learning an instrument. These are practical tips that we have discovered from years of teaching and our experiences with teaching hundreds of students each year. Specific questions will be addressed on an individual, case by case, basis. For children, starting at the right age is a key element to the success of their lessons. Some people will tell you “the sooner the better” but this attitude can actually backfire and be a negative.
