From Our Website
With the celebrated makers of France known around the world, such as Robert Bouchet and Daniel Friederich, a long and rich tradition of guitar making has gone on virtually ignored by American guitarists up until recently. That vital tradition is available to American players today. Names like Delarue, Audirac, Castelluccia, Quinson, Lesueur, Bedikian and Pozzo are becoming more and more recognized as among the greatest luthiers of our time. When you realize that the Spanish virtuoso guitarist and composer Fernando Sor himself bought his concert guitar in 1800 from Parisian luthier Rene Lacote, you must acknowledge the long and great tradition of French guitar making.
The Classical Guitar Store has been known for offering a wide selection of fine student and concert instruments for 53 years. In recent years we have enlarged the selection to include guitars from the four corners of the globe and we are especially proud of having introduced to the American market the great guitars from France. In addition, we have begun importing wonderful guitars from Germany. All the guitars we carry have been chosen with care, whether reasonably priced student models or excellent concert instruments.
The Classical Guitar Store offers lessons in all styles of guitar playing; Rock, Blues, Jazz, Folk, Pop, Classical and Flamenco. With a staff of eight teachers we provide expert instruction in all playing styles. Each member of our staff is a professional performer of the style he or she teaches and has had long performing and teaching experience. Dave D'Arville is a Philadelphia-based guitarist, composer and songwriter. He holds a B.Mus. in Guitar Performance from Temple University where he studied with Greg Kettinger, Peter Bernstein and Allen Krantz.
SAVAREZ Savarez has been making strings for as long as strings have been made, first in Italy and for the last century in France. The world's leader in string development, Savarez Alliance series offers excellent Kevlar rectified, thinly extruded trebles which increase the clarity and brilliance of any guitar and full, round basses. French guitar genius Roland Dyens, among many other artists, used these strings faithfully. There are also mixed tension sets available to enhance the response of your guitar.
