Carol's love of music, and her skill at it, shine through everything she does. As a teacher she is patient, kind, and innovative. She thinks carefully about the best ways to communicate with her students, and she does it with grace and humor. Her technical skills are impressive.

I took private violin lessons with Carol, who gave me a strong musical foundation that I appreciate to this day. Carol introduced the Suzuki method and taught me the fundamentals of classical music. Carol's approach was open and kind and she maintained high expectations while carefully teaching the techniques needed to succeed. Carol encouraged me to explore new things, including summer Suzuki camp at Ithaca College, which I loved! I highly recommend Carol as a skilled and passionate violin teacher.

Carol was my violin teacher for five years when I was in middle and high school. She inspired in me a lifelong love and appreciation for music. Her lessons were rigorous and her expectations high. At the same time she was warm and encouraging. Her own musicianship inspired her students as she encouraged us to attend professional performances, including some of her own; It was always thrilling to see our teacher on stage!

Today I have the joy of watching my own children learn violin and viola. I find myself drawing on Carol’s lessons from my youth to help and encourage their practice; and I have actually started playing again, which has been great fun!

All three of our children took music lessons with Carol and I have only wonderful things to say about her. She is impeccably qualified along with the necessary teaching attributes of being kind, patient and possessing a great sense of humor. All of our children enjoyed her. Our son, who started lessons with her in third grade, was guided by Carol to entrance into a prestigious summer music camp and played viola in the Cornell University Orchestra while he was a high school student. As young adults, each of our children has a deep appreciation and understanding of music. Carol has been a wonderful musical influence on our family.

Carol was our daughter's Suzuki violin, then viola, teacher from late elementary through high school. She's a skilled professional musician whose approach to teaching is encouraging, patient, and enthusiastic; it was a joy to watch our daughter progress with her. Carol enjoyed an excellent reputation here in upstate New York as well as quite a following in the Suzuki community. Now that she has settled in Arizona, Carol offers lessons from her lovely home with spacious music studio.

Carol Grohs has a first-rate professional resume. More importantly, she's crazy about music and crazy about her students. Her enthusiasm is contagious. You'll catch it too. Please don't be alarmed by the special needs arising from Carol's medical condition. What she asks of visitors isn't burdensome; I've been doing it for years. And i think you'll find her lessons are worth it. The chemicals Carol reacts to are actually dangerous for everyone; all of us should probably adopt her sensible precautions. Take lessons from Carol! You'll be glad you did.

I have not had lessons from Carol, but have played with her in an informal setting. She is a high-caliber professional and I am self-taught with no musical training. Knowing this, she has worked with me on counting, listening, theory as needed, and tuning (being in tune and playing in tune.) She shows a high level of patience and commitment to making us sound as good as possible given the vast gulf between our abilities.

In her teaching career she was worked with people like me, young children using Suzuki methods, and people aspiring to be professional musicians of the highest caliber. She is very much tuned in to the students ability and strives to encourage them to play successfully without pressure, (pressure that leads to discouragement as had occurred with me, to my great detriment.) With her experience as an orchestra personnel manager, she knows what is required to attain a professional position also.

Carol has so much experience. She is patient, supportive and has a unique technique which enabled me to play right away. I learned the viola. I feel so proud of myself. Best thing I ever did!
