I first signed on with Marieke because I wanted to strengthen my speaking voice-not for performance, but for personal growth. Little did I know then that I would be given tools for improving posture, body awareness, and breathing as well as voice. Marieke gives you the complete package of integrated skills to improve every area of your daily life. With patience, humor and clear instruction she guides you toward becoming the best you can be.

This is Muriel. For the last 3 years, I was experiencing a throat problem. Whenever I would begin to sing, my voice would give out and felt strained. I began individual vocal classes with Marieke last year. Living in Roseburg, so it takes 45 minutes to an hour driving time. It is worth going to Marieke for both she and I have noticed quite a difference in my singing.

My vocal cords sounds have begun to strengthen after being taught the Alexander Technique. Marieke is very cool, calm and collective. She is a professional by far. I'm so glad the opportunity came about, to take lesson from her. I know someday my voice will get back to the way it used to be if not better. I'm counting on better. Thank you Marieke. I have been working with Marieke now for over 5 years and she has nothing short of changed my whole relationship with my voice. She is an excellent teacher; knowledgeable and versatile. What's more she is a lovely person, always sensitive and encouraging.

Marieke is absolutely amazing. I originally started seeing her because I was suddenly having problems with anxiety and panic attacks. She has helped me so much with my confidence and self-esteem. When I first started working with her, I just shook from head to toe when I tried to sing. I could barely get a squeak out of my mouth. I enjoy singing so much today.

It is so amazing to me how far I've come with Marieke's help. She is so positive and kind. She has been very empowering to me. It has really carried over into my job and personal life. I feel much better about myself as I am so much more confident today. No matter what level you are at, or what your singing goals are, I highly recommend Marieke.

Marieke Schuurs has been my voice teacher for the past eight years. She has an amazing ear and gently works with you to achieve your best voice, whatever style of music you sing, everything from rock and roll to opera! A superlative vocal technician, and a real pleasure to work with. I would unhesitatingly recommend her for vocalists or aspiring vocalists of any age.

If you're an actor or a teacher or otherwise often speak in public, she can work with you on your speaking voice to improve your volume and stamina without strain. She is also a certified Alexander Technique specialist, incorporating the Technique into her teaching, and can train you in the Technique. I really can't say enough good things about her. This lady knows her business!

Marieke is truly a wonderful singing teacher. She creates a very safe and respectful atmosphere and really teaches you how to sing! She also has a great sense of humor --which helps a lot. I think what I appreciate most though is that she pays very close attention while I'm singing--and incorporates techniques to help my physiology work with my singing instead of against it.

Marieke Schuurs is an amazing voice coach. She helped me learn how to breathe, how to singing with better tone and built my confidence so that I felt comfortable performing in public, both at her in-house recitals and in other public venues. Thank you for everything, Marieke!
