From Our Website

On February 2nd, 1946, Milt Bronstein opened the doors to Bronstein Music on Grand Avenue in South San Francisco after serving in WWII as General Patton's bandleader. Upon his retirement in 1981, Milt sold the store to two of his long-time employees, Rich Welker and Don Edwards, who each started working for Mr. Bronstein in their high school years. Rich and Don continued the mission of Bronstein Music, which is to provide quality instruments and service to musicians of all ages and abilities. In order to focus more on serving the rental and repair needs of school-based music programs, Don and Rich moved the store from its long-time home at 363 Grand Avenue to 305 3rd Lane in South San Francisco in 2018.

While Bronstein Music's student-level instruments are an excellent way to get started, eventually an instrument with more capabilities will be needed. We have a selection of step-up/intermediate instruments in stock and ready to go! Please note, these instruments are not eligible for the Guaranteed Buy Back program. To keep our prices as low as possible, we do not sell these online or list the prices. Please contact us either using the form at the bottom of the page or give us a call at 650-588-2502 for more information.

Bronstein Music offers repair services for all band and orchestra instruments, guitar, bass, ukulele, musical electronics, and more. We offer free estimates! Bring your instrument in and one of our technicians will give you a fast, accurate assessment of recommended repairs. While most other shops can take weeks to repair your instrument, we pride ourselves on being able to turn around most repair jobs in a matter of days, or even the same day if possible. Bronstein Music also offers ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments.

While Bronstein Music no longer offers lessons, we certainly still believe that private lessons are a great way to get more experience on your instrument! We recommend the following instructors based on their teaching experience either with our old store on Grand or other shops/schools. Please note that we cannot answer questions as to these instructors' availability/pricing/etc. You will need to contact them directly to begin lessons or for additional information. We are providing this as a courtesy to our customers and the community.
