This is a wonderful and safe space for my granddaughter to spend an hour of musical dance, singing and fun. In this time of Covid isolation, it makes me happy to see her smile and share her "song" after each class. The teachers appear to love what they do. I would surely recommend Applause for its commitment to our NYC children.

BEWARE! Do not sign up for these classes until the absolute last minute possible and be very, very sure that your child is going to respond well to the method of teaching and class dynamic. BE VERY, VERY sure. You will hear that "spots are going fast", and the "class is almost full". If you sign up you will never get a single penny back if your child has an injury or medical condition that prevents them from participating (see above), or the class is not the right fit, or if you have a family situation that arises and prevents your child from attending.

There are no exceptions. Expect no compassion. Once you send in the your payment, regardless of any ethical or legal requirements for a refund, you will not get it, and the classes are quite expensive.

Audrey Kaplan is SCUM- run don't walk. Applause deserves zero stars. The owner Audre Kaplan is a heartless money hungry thief with no compassion for children. She pays New York taxes but is breaking the New York business law when she forces people to sign her contract and check the no refund box. BUYER BEWARE- This contract is cancellable according to New York Business law ARTICLE 26 304-b.

My daughter signed up for a troupe hip hop class months in advance. After enrolling she was diagnosed with a benign leg tumor that causes her pain with extreme exercise. When we tried to recoup the hefty sum of $2100 for the class Applause refused to give refund me my money back. A doctor's note and radiologist report was given to Ms. Kaplan at Applause.

She scoffed at my report. My daughter never even took one class and I asked for my money back before the class started. We would recommend staying away from this place because even if the dance is good when a problem arises the people running this are not compassionate and don't care about your kids. According to this same New York business law, Applause actually owes me double the amount Ms. Kaplan stole $2100 from our family by not refunding money for a class that was never attended. Ms. Kaplan was notified in writing on three separate occasions before the class ever took place but still feels she can hold money hostage. RUNNNNNN! APPLAUSE are uncompassionate thieves, There are much better run programs in the city, Parents you can do much better for your child. UES recommendations- Go to Eastside Dance Company located on 82nd between 2nd and 3rd Ave or American Youth Dance Theater located on 75th Street between York and 1st Avenue. Both are wonderful studios with compassionate people running them that actually care about your child.

Generally when I take my daughter to classes it feels like I am paying people do be vaguely annoyed at life in general and we just happen to be there. That is not at all the cause at Applause. Everyone has a serious case of spirit fingers in the best possible way. My daughter was genuinely transfixed in Broadway babies. I even noticed some very schmancy moms attempting to emote joy.botox limited their results, but the effort wasn't lost. Lastly, I had to switch classes and cancel a series and they always made it easy/refunded appropriately.

This organization is one of the finest I have ever dealt with. Last year my son sustained a sports injury and we needed to find a camp quickly so we called Applause New York. From the first phone call I knew this was the place for us. The staff is amazing beyond words - always willing to answer a question or help out in any way they can. Since joining the camp my oldest has gone on to perform in two of their shows and is doing the program again this year as well as the camp.

Our youngest son joined the camp this year and he is already talking about signing him up for the whole summer next year. He will also be doing a movie making class this year which is something he began to love through camp. We have had the opportunity to work with talented and extremely professional individuals who have mentored my oldest son. They have transformed my boy into a very confident performer.

There are not enough stars to rate Applause. The counselors are exceptional and they make the days fun and my boys feel supported and loved every day. Each person you deal with is nicer than the next. Audrey has built more than a business, she has created a place that nurtures, encourages and helps develop children to reach their ultimate potential.

She has built a home away from home and we are happy to be part of the Applause family. If your child has any desire to act, sing, dance or just have a blast - this is the place to go!

My daughter signed up for a week of theater camp this Summer. She wanted to quit after day 1. I made her go a second day because we shelled out $800 for the week. After day 2 she really raised a fuss. We didn't force her to continue. Her take was that the instructors didn't go out of their way to be fun or nice. A parent can tell upon entering that they are all singers/actors in the real world but what they seem to be lacking is an interest in or an energy for children.

If your child really is serious about theater it is probably a good place for them to gain some learning. If they just want to have a blast of a summer I'd suggest taking a different route especially due to the high price tag.
