From Our Website

Since 2004 we have helped hundreds of students begin and continue on their musical journey. We are one of the largest schools of music in the East Bay, offering private lessons in all popular instruments, as well as voice. We know you are busy and it can be very hard to find a reliable music teacher. That's why we go above and beyond to find the BEST music teachers in the East Bay--so you don't have to! Our staff consists of experienced music teachers, capable of teaching all ages and levels. We constantly renovate and improve our facilities as well as provide on-going support to our instructors to ensure we are always providing our students and parents with the best possible musical experience.

Bay Area Academy of Music in Pleasanton offers piano and keyboard lessons to students of all ages and abilities from beginners to advanced students. Our piano teachers teach a variety of styles from classical to popular music. Whether you want to learn Bach or Alicia Keys, our teachers are happy to help you become the pianist you want to be. Our piano faculty will show you the fundamentals of sight reading, technique and theory, but they will also incorportate your favorite songs into your lessons.

We have many students, both male and female, who take voice or singing lessons at our school. Students sing all kinds of music from their favorite artists to classical arias. If you have always wanted to be a better rock, pop, country, jazz, gospel or R&B singer, then we have the right voice teachers for you. Voice students spend time each week doing physical exercises to improve their vocal range, ear training, breath control, vibrato, tone production, enunciation, stage presence and more. All voice students set goals with their teacher to work on sounding like their favorite recording artists, or if they prefer, to develop their own unique voice.

Our drum teachers teach rock, metal, jazz, funk, blues and many other styles. Drum language can be complex and our instructors will challenge any drummer with a wide variety of technical exercises designed to improve your speed and comfort. All drummers can bring in their favorite drum parts to learn in their lessons and theory is encouraged. You do not have to purchase a drum kit to take lessons. Beginning students can practice at home with a drum pad and sticks before purchasing or renting a drum kit.

The Bay Area Academy of Music offers music lessons in guitar, voice, singing, piano, drums, bass, ukulele, cello, and violin. At Bay Area Academy of Music, our main focus is on helping students gain the skills they need to enjoy music long after their music lessons are over. Our Pleasanton location offers private lessons on all popular instruments and voice. We have found that private one-on-one instruction allows students to progress at their own pace and gain the best understanding of musical techniques.

Q: Do I need a piano at home to take piano lessons? A: It is ideal if you do have a piano at home, but you can start lessons with our piano teachers by using an electric keyboard to practice on at home. Most of our students rent or buy small electric keyboards to practice on at home. We recommend a keyboard that has a minimum of 61 regular sized keys, a sustain pedal, and a touch sensitive response. A touch sensitive keyboard means if you press a key harder it will play louder and if you press a key softer it will play quieter.
