Agoura Music There is nothing like the joy of playing a musical instrument. It is THE universal language and we feel very grateful to be able to help as many as we can in learning the power and magic it contains. Music is life! While most of our Rentals go to students in the local schools, we've also been able to help many who who are unsure start their journey through our affordable Rental program.

I love Agoura Music! I have been taking music lessons with Nima and it is a wonderful experience. I have learned so much about music theory, chords, scales, and so much more! I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to take music lessons!

One star is too many. This business is creepy and unethical. Save yourself the headaches and go down the street to Nick Rail.

Nina fixed a very hard dent on my Yamaha piccolo trumper in less than a week. Not only that, but it was polished and looked better than before. This place is great! And all for a really good cost.

It is a pity that Yelp doesn't allow customers to give zero stars. Highly unethical, abusive and unprofessional business. Watch out!

One star is too many. I found a Carvin 12 string on his Craigslist ad (under the OWNER section by the way) and contacted him. He said he would hold it til I came to LA in 4 weeks. I gave him my credit card number for a 10% deposit. He never charged it. Then when I got to LA with money in hand, he said he sold it the week before. Never called, texted, or emailed me back.

I passed on several other guitars, and sold one of my prized PRS guitars so I could have the money for it. I needed it for a show this weekend and now I'm out, nothing I can do to have a 12 string for my show. Bad business. I held up my end, you didn't hold yours.

Whatever you do- don't take guitar lessons here, especially with the owner Nima. Guy blows, it's embarrassing. I wouldn't recommend this place for guitar lessons for a monkey. You can tell how much of a moron this guy is by the way he responds to reviews on Yelp. Just scroll down to see his signature temper tantrums expressed beautifully in written word. Not a professionally managed place. Nima obviously lives with his elderly parents and shouts at his mom when the soup isn't hot enough.

Nima I can't thank you enough for the 5 star treatment in the purchasing of the Yamaha FG-75. Not only did you give me a great deal but to drive the guitar all the way to San Diego was amazing! Best transaction ever! Thank you!

The Whole Foods of music stores. Overpriced and poor quality, and profoundly unpleasant employees.

I really wish I would've looked on yelp and the BBB before ever doing any business with this unprofessional owner. I was also a victim of a scam of unauthorized use of my debit card. I came in to rent an instrument and I was only charged for one month and was suppose to be charged 3 months. So instead of getting my authorization, my card was charged for an additional 3months on top of what was initially charged.

So now ive been charged 4 months. This owner was so rude and disrespectful when it was brought to his attention when I contacted him via telephone when I was the one stolen from. I even went as far as making a complaint with the BBB and the owner flat out lied said he refunded me "every penny" lol I ended up being refunded by my bank called "bank of america." In Mr. Nimas response to the BBB he failed to respond to the unauthorized charge but wanted to let it be known that he offered to get a larger instrument from another store (mind you the original instrument was too small for my son so one of his instructors suggested he get a larger one) Im not sure what that had to do with anything except thats what im paying for an appropriate size instrument.

Oh ya, he also mentioned he provided a free lesson ( the website offered a complimentary lesson with rental) he definitely tried to act as if he was doing me some favors. Mr Nima in my opinion has issues with taking responsibility for wrong doing. "CHARGING MY CARD WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION IS 100%WRONG AND ILLEGAL" I have no problem with understanding a mistake occured with the inacurate information that was provided to me relating to the 3 months up front, if I was suppose to be charged for 3 months I wouldve had no problem paying for it. I have a problem with this business taking it upon. Thenselves and charge what they feel is right without my authorization.

I have no idea how this place has managed to keep its doors open. The way the owner conducts himself you'd think he was intentionally trying to drive his business into the ground. Extremely rude, unorganized, horrible products, horrible service. I'm sure it's only a matter of time until Nima gets sued, or reamed by the IRS since he openly says "if you pay cash, I won't charge sales tax, " that's legit. I'm sure he is reporting that income. Stay away from this place!

This place is great. The shop was very helpful in restringing my guitar at a reasonable price. He was a little late in completing the task but it was done right! Great customer service. Great selection.

One star is a far too generous for this place. I've never been threatened by a store owner in my life, until now. Nima is rude, pompous and an insult to the Agoura Hills community. My experience won't end with a negative Yelp review. This establishment doesn't deserve to have its doors open with such a crude and disrespectful owner. I don't just recommend, but insist you take your business elsewhere.

It pains me to even give them one star. They billed my credit card account without proper authorization and have been extremely difficult to deal with. After reading many of the other reviews (including the filtered ones) it appears that this is a pattern. They also have a D- with the BBB. Buyer beware Edited in response to Nima's comments to my review.

My previous review was removed because I included details about my daughter and wife's experience, which is against yelp policy and was my mistake. However this review is only about my experience and everything I posted is 100% true. Id be happy to show copies of my credit card statement and other documents to yelp or anyone who needs verification. I think Nima's angry and unprofessional response to every negative comment on yelp speaks volumes.

Yelp does not offer an option for 0-star. This is not an appropriate environment for children in particular, just walk in & you'll smell it. Nima will charge your credit card without authorization & will then yell at you. Horrible customer service. I would not recommend this place to ANYONE!

ABSOLUTELY BEYOND TERRIBLE! I never, ever thought I would have such a horrible experience at a music store. For any one reading these reviews thinking about taking lessons at Agoura Music, or even buying a product from there, I warn you to NOT go there. Just by reading the reviews he has all over the internet you can see how many people have dealt with the same exact issue.

For starters, his contract is extremely unclear and contradicts itself in several different places. I had never played an instrument before and searched for a music store close to where I live. I found Agoura Music and started taking guitar lessons there. I didn't know anything about guitar, typical prices, packages, etc., so I just trusted what I was being told. Now, knowing what I do, I was ripped off right from the beginning.

I was sold a broken guitar and had to pay $50 to get it fixed. I was told the guitar would be back to me within a week and it took a month to get it back. I then had to buy a case and had to pay another $50 for a used, soft case that had broken zippers all over. I was sold a capo for $15 when they are sold other places (such as Amazon) for $3. Picks were a $1 a piece.

There were several times I went in to the store to wait for my lesson and the owner was yelling and cussing out employees. He was very unprofessional and rude. He laughed at me when I would hold my guitar in a funny way. (I was new and just trying to learn). But these issues ended up being the least of my problems. As a birthday present my mom payed for my first batch of lessons.

Before those were even used, my mom's credit card was charged an additional $1000 with zero authorization! When I asked my teacher about the charge he went to check how many lessons I had left and told me my initial batch was never used up. I called the store to ask about it and the owner told me he didn't have time for me and rudely hung up the phone.

When my mom called to ask about the charge, the owner, Nima, was extremely hostile and rude. He told her there would be no refunds and that he would ruin her credit if she tried to dispute it. We told him we wanted to cancel my lessons and he started yelling at us telling us he would send a collection agency to our home. I want to make sure that I say how incredible my guitar teacher was.

None of this was his fault and he felt horrible about the entire situation. I hope my experience sheds some light on the character of the owner of Agoura Music. Please, please do not go there or send your children there. You are asking to be taken advantage of. In case I haven't' made it clear DO NOT GO TO AGOURA MUSIC. Review Update - Nima's response to my review is so ridiculous that it's not really worth responding to. He's making up a great story that suits him well.

Unfortunately it's not the truth! To be clear, this issue has not been resolved with the credit card company and is still in dispute. He ripped us off for over $1,000 and we will fight this all the way to the end on principle alone.

Beware. The owner Nima is rude and unethical. He charged my credit card for a large block of additional lessons prior to the original lessons being used and without my authorization. When I called to figure out what was going on he was extremely rude, yelled at me over the phone, said we could not cancel (even though there is a cancellation clause in his agreement) and eventually hung up on me.

Reading through other reviews, it seems we are not the only ones to experience these kinds of problems with him. Will definitely never be back and would not recommend this place to anyone. There are much better options in the area. Review Update: The response from Nima is simply false on all accounts. The truth is, Amex credited us back immediately and the case is still under investigation (it takes a while). What's funny is, he conveniently doesn't mention the important facts.

The signature he refers to was for the original block of lessons. He decided all by himself to charge us for an additional block, before we even used the first batch up! And to make matters worse, even if we HAD authorized the charge (which we didn't), we still have over 20 lessons left and he refused to let us cancel, even though his agreement has a cancellation clause.

Bottom line. I paid for over 20 lessons that he charges us for, but we did not receive. BTW - He also has a D- with the BBB. No reason to believe me though. Just do your research and come to your own conclusions. In the meantime, we will be fighting this all the way, not only for the money, but more importantly for the principal.

I've never been to Agoura Music. My review is based on purely phone communication with the manager (owner?) Nima. He the nerve to tell me "F$&k you, motherfu#%er, don't ever call here again, bitch" after requesting information regarding a woodwind teacher position that was supposedly open. As a working professional musician and educator in Southern California, I do not EVER tolerate childish, immature and cruel intentions. I'm sure there are redeeming qualities about this music store, but Nima is a hot head who should never be around small children interested in taking lessons. I strongly urge valley residents to look elsewhere for a music store. This place is BAD NEWS.

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE service, DO NOT BUY from this store. Owner does NOT know how to do business, and is immature and rude. I pre-ordered several instruments that were promised to me within the week, but I did not actually receive them until 3 WEEKS later. When I finally got them, I politely pointed out that one of the instruments he sold me was severely damaged- the ENTIRE back was scratched up, the instrument was obviously worn and used- and he snapped and talked down at me that I should be "grateful" I was getting instruments from him for "an incredible price." Later that night he left me a voicemail THREATENING me to bring back all of my instruments within two days, even though I had purchased them weeks ago and they were obviously rightfully mine. Will NOT be buying ANYTHING from here ever again.

The music teachers are wonderful. make sure you read your agreement very very carefully. Nima the owner yelled at me left me ugly yelling voicemail, I believe he is just there for the money. My son is kicked out from Agoura Music. he made it very clear that we are not welcome. We did get to extend the time period to finish the classes because we only could go every other week.

After I posted this Nima the owner called me 8/28/13 treaatened me to take this posting off within 24 hours or otherwise he will write a respond. The whole thing started because my credit card expired before the renewal and he could not run it. I don't like people yelling it at me and leaving rude voicemails. Again: The music teachers are awesome.

My son tried piano guitar and drum, Oh and because of this posting we are not allowed to have our last lesson what we had to postponed and Nima said yes for that. This is my opinion, this is the way I see what happened, you can't punish people for their opinion and this website is here to tell our experiences. You can't make a costumer/client not to tell their opinion and ask to take off their reviews. Nathan and I thank you for the awesome music experience he definitely enjoyed them.

I'm constantly buying strings and gear, so when I came to Agoura Music to buy a pack of bass strings I immediately knew how overpriced their selection was. $30 for a $20 (at other local music shops) pack of strings. So, I kindly mentioned to the owner what I normally pay, and he responded in a rude and condescending tone, "well today you're paying $30".

I asked him why he was being so rude and he complained like a teenager that I didn't come into the store often enough to warrant a discount. Little did he know that I had just moved back to the area and would have become a repeat customer had he treated me with an ounce of respect. Otherwise this store has nothing to offer besides a limited selection of stale, made-in-China guitars that are also overpriced.

They outsource all of their repairs, so there is no point in using them as a middle-man. Go to Nick Rail Music right down the street or Instrumental Music in Thousand Oaks. Both places have fair prices and great teachers.

I've been going to Agoura Music sporadically for about 10 years now. I go for strings, picks, and repairs. They have repaired an acoustic guitar of mine that had a neck rod twisted almost 90 degrees, and they also repaired my 1972 Fender Champ amp, both for reasonable prices. This is the best music shop in the Agoura/Westlake/Oak Park area, and the owner is very friendly.

They offer music lessons for all levels and have better pricing on Orange gear than the major chains do. It is a small space but you still feel relaxed with no pressure when trying out the gear. They also have a small, but decent rack of sheet music and tab books, All in all, if you're in the area Agoura Music is worth the stop. Small but convenient, well priced and staffed.

The owner is a creepy guy named Nima. His teachers kept quitting and my child showed up twice with no teacher there. I heard their pay checks were bouncing. We finally got fed up and asked Nima for a refund. He suggested instead we split the difference. Hahahahah! We insisted on a refund and he promised to process it before the end of the week. The following week, we followed up and he was completely hostile. That was a month ago. Its not worth the effort. Don't waste your money here. Don't sign a contract. He will rip you off. Agoura deserves better.
