The Director, Tyler Tullock, has been teaching private music lessons since the age of ten. After almost 30 years of teaching and more than 3,000 students later, he hired two of his former understudies (Steve Bambrough and Ryan Casperson) to assist him and his family in forming 4/4 School of Music, LLC.

As of 2013, there are eleven 4/4 School of Music locations in Washington, Oregon & Texas. 4/4 School of Music has more than 45 active music teachers as a part of the "family." We are proud to have built one of the nation's best private music schools. Tyler and Eric also own a non-profit called "Music for Kids Foundation" whose mission is to provide music lessons and instruments to children who cannot otherwise afford it. If you wish to donate any musical instruments please contact the school.

Ryan is absolutely the best guitar teacher we could have asked for. He is very approchable and patient and genuinely wants to help. Even during these testing times, he has wonderfully conducted zoom sessions and its been a sigh of relief ! Thank you Ryan! For being such an amazing influence!

Ian has been an excellent coach/teacher for Sanjay. His approach to music, being friendly with kids while underscoring the importance of discipline is much appreciated. Sanjay has musically grown considerably since starting classes with Ian starting from scratch. We also like his encouragement towards performing, preparations for that but without adding pressure to students. Overall we are super happy with Ian and 4/4 and looking forward to continue classes for Sanjay!

I've been taking guitar classes with this school for the last year - and I love them! They have nice and convenient locations, so I've never had problems to get to them after work. 30-minute classes work great too. A teacher can teach you a lot during that time - just don't forget to schedule time for practicing :) They also provide an option of participating in student concerts, it's a great opportunity to play in front of people. And the last, but not least - my teacher Mike Kohary is absolutely great! He shows different techniques to make it easier to study guitar and also provides songs (if you're interested) that you like so you can learn faster and have even more fun!

I started taking guitar lessons with Ryan almost two years ago kind of on a whim not really knowing what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised and have enjoyed my weekly lessons very much. Ryan has been great and is very talented and knowledgeable and while my greatest fault is not practicing like I know I should (must practice!!), Ryan never faults me for that and is always eager to answer my questions and show me something new, explain technical aspects of my instruments or even delve into a bit of music theory. I’m always greeted with a smile and “Hi, how are you doing today?” in reception at the Lynnwood facility and always feel welcome. Sadly, I have had to withdraw due to other obligations, but I enthusiastically recommend Ryan and 4/4 Music and who knows...maybe I will be able to return some day. Thanks Ryan and 4/4 Music!

A big shout out to 4/4 Beaverton School of Music. My son has been taking lessons for 5 years and I have nothing negative to say. Josiah has made the classes interesting where he teaches what Jason needs to know and also lets him pursue what he wants to do. Jason loves playing by ear and he is very good at that. Josiah lets him to that and he even encourages him to add his own swag. I have sat in the classes several times and watch their interactions. I'm impressed! I would recommend 4/4 Beaverton school of music. Jason has been taking piano lessons since second grade and he had few teachers who did not quite understand his ability. 4/4 Beaverton school of music did not only provide the platform but also encouraged him to run with it. Josiah made sure that he also spends his time reading notations. In 5 years Jason has progressed tremendously. Unfortunately we have to bow out as he has new adventures around the corner - a freshman in college. Thank you 4/4 Beaverton school of music for making our journey so memorable.

One of our kids takes drum lessons and another is learning piano at 4/4 in Frisco, and our experience has been excellent, exactly what we were looking for to guide our beginning music students! Teachers are professional and work well with our kids’ individual personalities. Most importantly for us, the prices are reasonable and considerably cheaper than all of the other Music schools I first researched, without sacrificing the quality of instruction.

My son has been going to 4/4 for over a year and takes piano lessons from Colt. He has learned so much in such a short time, from concepts to reading sheet music and loves playing the piano at home. Colt is an amazing instructor and my son has made great progress under him. I would highly recommend him and 4/4 to anyone who wants to learn music.

Customer Testimonials

The teachers are awesome! Allston is taking voice and piano with a great teacher Kristie! We like Kristie because she let's Allston pick what he wants to learn and he is progressing great! Colter is taking the Uke and loves his teacher Travis! I highly recommend 4/4 School of Music!!

I have taken piano lessons from Joey Lyon for about 7 months now. He is an amazing instructor. We discussed what I hoped to get out of the lessons early on, and he has helped me consistently progress in the direction I want ever since. There has been a mix of types of lessons and things to practice - from songs I choose, lessons books I move through at my own pace, to theory, and online practices.

Considering he is great at piano instruction, I suspect his guitar lessons (his main instrument of choice) would be equally great - for both novice and advanced students.

As a small note about 4/4 Music - they are always very responsive and easy to work with. I am pleased to have gone with them and with Joey.

My 10 year old son decided he wanted to take up guitar this year, so I researched music schools and chose 4/4 school of music because of its close proximity to our home. After just a few lessons, my son not only really enjoys it, but he looks forward to it each week. The teachers are very nice and all seem to have a very broad spectrum of musical knowledge and instruments and really care about the students. I highly recommend 4/4 school of music.

From Our Website

Please call us for availability. Not all instruments are taught at every location. Your child's school band teacher has 20-35 students to lead in a 45-minute class. Private lessons are one on one and highly focused on your child's needs. Many parents think their child is already taking music lessons by being in the school band or orchestra. It is rare that your child's school teacher happens to specialize in your child's particular instrument and will have very little one-on-one time with them.

Bonnie (Mom) keeps everything running smoothly in the office. She'll make you laugh and talk your ear off. The most important thing to her is that you are happy with your teacher and your time here at 4/4.

What to expect: Our singing camps are 15 hours of vocal instruction that feels more like having fun with friends than it does practice. Throughout the week, the students will sing arrangements of fun, popular songs, working on technique, harmonization and blending in with other singers. At the end of the week, the students will feel more confident about their singing and have memories to last a lifetime. Who can sign up for this camp?: Students of all levels are welcome! You don't need any experience playing the ukulele to join this camp.

Just call us! We spend a huge amount of time every day matching students with our teachers. We know them all very well. We know their strengths and weaknesses, what styles they specialize in and if they are great with kids and beginners. We speak to their students, parents of their students and to the other teachers that they work with every day! We could write a couple of paragraphs about each one on this web page but honestly it wouldn't help you very much. We used to do that and students would often choose a teacher that wasn't the best for their needs.
